For the first time in the shows history, I was disappointed by a musical choice. I didn't like the end song at all and it didn't fit the mood of the show.

I'm sorry, but how can you NOT love this song?? www.youtube.com/watch?v=II2zX0S9-iQConcrete Blonde -- "Long Time Ago" When you turned out the light and walked out the door I said to myself, "What did I come here for?" Did you have a good time drinking whiskey and ryhme? And did you want to be Bonnie and Clyde? What goes on in your mind? What goes on in your head? Who did you think I would be? Ha! Well, you got me instead. You think there's some connection that I'm your female reflection but no... I can be loyal, and I can be true, but that's for somebody else, and it will never be you. You think we're predetermined, but babe you're learning way to slow. But it seems such a long time ago. He can see things you'll never know how to see. He's three times the man you'll never know how to be. I'll do anything he wants and I'll go anywhere he wants me to go. And if that isn't love then I guess I'll just never know. Seems such a long time ago...

I agree with armadilloquintero. It's not about liking the song. It's about the song not fitting the end of the show. And that montage was weak. I've seen better on this site and on YouTube.

I was very dissappointed in the final song, We all should have just sang koombayaa instead. I don't think the montage should have been a recap at the end, the ending should have been to a song, showing Vic in the office, Ronnie in a cell, Dutch booking Lloyd, Tina eating her cake, and assinvader doing whatever assinvaders do.
I was really hoping for a GNR song, like Rocket Queen or even Welcome to the jungle could have fit it.

I think the song did fit the show. I might have enjoyed the ending montage badcop described better, but I was satisfied. I liked seeing Lem and Connie again during the credits.
I especially enjoyed X's "Los Angeles" at the beginning - punk's not dead!

If they were just gonna do a random video package recapping the series, they could've still picked a more fitting song. Although personally I liked what badcop wrote up and wish they did that, kinda like they did to end season 2..

I think the song they picked was pretty effing good. It fit the show. I'll do anything he wants and I'll go anywhere he wants me to go. And if that isn't love then I guess I'll just never know. - Every single member of the ST was loyal, at one point or another, and followed Vic wherever and look what they got for their loyalty. Now while I wasn't in love with the montage, it was nice to take a trip down memory lane.

i think like badcop in alot of ways reading his posts.. as a novice screenwriter who actually sent a script to shawn ryan but never heard anything back (not upset cause still don't think my writing can touch that of the shows writers) a full montage would be better to sum up the story at least a little bit more.. my wife and i both kind of feel like we got punched in the stomach over the ending...
i think concrete blonde is a great band but they're song everybody knows would been a lot more fitting
Everybody Knows by Concrete Blonde
Everybody knows that the dice are loaded Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed Everybody knows that the war is over Everybody knows that the good guys lost Everybody knows the fight is fixed The poor stay poor and the rich get rich Thats how it goes
Everybody knows that the boat is sinking Everybody knows that the captain lied Everybodys got this broken feeling Like their momma or there dog just died Everybodys hands are in their pockets Everybody wants a box of chocolates And a long stem rose Everybody knows
Everybody knows Everybody knows Thats how it goes Everybody knows
Everybody knows Everybody knows Thats the way it goes Everybody knows
Everybody knows that its now or never Everybody knows that its me or you Everybody knows that you live forever When you had a line or two Everybody knows the deal is rotten Old black joe still pickin cotton For ribbons and bows
Everybody knows you love me baby Everybody knows that you really do Everybody knows that you been faithful Give or take a night or two Everybody knows you been discrete So many people you had to meet Without your clothes And everybody knows
Everybody knows Everybody knows Thats the way it goes Everybody knows
Everybody knows Everybody knows Thats how it goes And everybody knows

Thats not their song, its a cover of a Leonard Cohen song.
Anyway, I think 'Long Time Ago' fitted perfectly.

'Long Time Ago' is the song SR wanted from the beginning. I've been reading so many interviews that I can't remember where I read that!

I love "Long Time Ago" because it set a sentimental tone without being too sappy. Only a song with that tone and beat could keep a montage from being too TV.
And what a great comment on the entire series--"Who did you you think I would be/Well, you got me instead." No matter what we expected, we always got something different from "The Shield."
"Bawitdaba" is the ultimate kick a** song for the show, so it would seem second rate to end the finale with a song similar to Kid Rock's in energy. That's why I would vote against GNR. Although, "Mr Brownstone" would have fit in nicely somewhere in the series.
I'm just glad I love the song they chose because I could watch that ending montage forever and think back over the moments I also loved.
