Dammit, I forgot to watch the premiere! Anyone want to tell me the plot so far or have any ideas on how best to catch up? It might be the first drama series I've been interested in since The Shield totally spoiled me for anything else... yeah, I think I'm ready. FX will be replaying the SOA pilot TONIGHT in between the first airing of TS and the second airing. So it should be on at 10 pm CST/11 pm everywhere else.

I need something, eventually, to replace The Shield as my one drama series interest... well, not exactly replace. That would be like replacing a Presa Canario with a pit bull. Just not the same.

I watched it after The Shield tonight... in one word, HOOKED! I really like it... simple, like so far I don't need a story board to follow the plot like I do with The Shield these days (maybe that's just me!?) And I have an easier time believing these are the actions of a motorcycle gang because I've read books by ex-members and cops who infiltrated them.
Good stuff. Mrs Sutter is fantastic, Mr Sutter has done a great job with the writing, and Jacks is a little hottie with a lot of strong, conflicting emotions. I'm definitely there on Wednesdays.

One thing that I'm certain of is that SAMCRO is going to spend some time finding out who leaked to the Aztecs about the gun warehouse. It was the third line of dialogue in the Pilot episode: White boy was right. M4s.
Kurt Sutter is a writer who's always looking forward. I really don't think that line was a 'throwaway' line, but more to lay the groundwork of an arc yet to come. The Pilot was about revenge for the heist, but I'm hoping future episodes will be about ferreting out the leak and exacting revenge.

after the second episode I am less enthusiastic, very, very unrealistic. Like when the cop pulled over the suburban. He chases them down on foot, and as they start to pull away, he fires 2 shots a very close range, he misses first of all. Second, he had no legal standing to fire those shots. No felony was committed,(as far as he knew at that point) his or others lives were not threatened. If he hit anyone, his ass would have been in a sling. Not even close to justifiying firing a shot. Even rookie cops know this.

*Sigh* The second episode is a lot 'cheesier,' that's for sure. And Kurt wrote it.
I just don't know what SAMCRO was trying to accomplish by staging a death scene using two long-dead bodies. Well, long-enough dead to give an M.E. pause when it comes to body temperature, rigor mortis, and time of death.
I'll stick with it long enough to see Dutch show up, and hope it rights the ship, but my enthusiasm has waned.
Not enough Katey this week, either.

I agree with all of the above. Wholeheartedly. But, I love Kurt, so I'm sticking it out.

The second ep didn't seem "cheesy" to me, just more playful. I'm not in this for technical reality (like The Shield is any more realistic??), I just want to get involved with another series from the starting gate and care what happens to the main characters as they develop. Kurt makes it fun... shocking, funny, stimulating. Jackson is the most interesting character I've seen in a long time... all of the characters are engaging, actually. And like everyone so far, I can't get enough of Mrs. Sutter. Any one thinking Emmy nomination already???

I totally forgot about last night's episode, and that's after seeing ads for this show about ten zillion times and seeing the pilot. Guess that means I'm far from hooked.
Not to make this thread about The Shield, but, I didn't realize how frightening (and frighteningly realistic) The Shield was until I read about the actual Rampart scandals. It actually makes the Strike Team look like straight-up good cops. And the scariest aspect is that Vic and his guys have frequently run into trouble with their superiors and others, whereas Rafael Perez and the others were largely allowed to do whatever they did so long as they got results.

The skeptics. We'll talk again when she's eligible... if the character is allowed to develop and expand, she'll be on that list.
