Don't you mean Lem? I used to be unable to separate entertainment from good endings, but I'm past that now. Oops, thanks. I think I was projecting.

Does anyone think that it really has to do with the way they killed Lem? I remember reading a lot of angry fan posts in a forum. Some of them said they weren't watching anymore, he was the conscience and a main reason they didn't see the ST as wholly corrupt. Now maybe some of them came to their senses after the shock waned but maybe some of them aren't watching any more. I don't know if it could be a million but I'd guess it did have some effect of some of them fans. Any thoughts... An excellent drama is going to bring emotion from the core of a human being, naturally. When a favorite character is murdered there is bound to be feelings and reactions. However, a storyline must continue to have an ending and as a fan I am not willing to see that end die with one character. That would be like putting down a book before the end. For the fans who quit with Lem's death...grow up! Maybe they never had the balls to watch the show in the first place. I can't wait until next week and yet I never want it to end! I LOVE THE SHIELD!!!

And where did those people get their info? I would like to see something posted by the AP or Nielsen about ratings. From what I found on that site, its looks like I could sign on and say 20 million watched.

Nice to see other fans feel the same way I do about killing off Lem. Some say it was a great way to tell the story, I say it sucked. FX did not do what they should have to promote this season, I agree with that. It doesn't matter because I'm watching anyway!! When you say it sucked, is that purely an emotional response because you liked Lem, or did you feel it was inferior story to previous ones or perhaps it was unearned? I'm just trying to understand the perspective because when people say Lem dying was stupid and sucked, I have to wonder if they thought something like The Godfather II or Cool Hand Luke or something else where a main character dies sucked.

I can also see where the more casual viewer of the show could have decided that they had jumped the shark (ship?)with Lem's death. There are a lot of people who aren't out to get wrapped up in the intricate details that span several seasons like those of us here do. ~Diz I agree. I think the show lost some of those casual viewers. I would also agree that I enjoy the complex, intricate details of the show. I was just suggesting that the show may have lost some of them viewers. Someone else said they would probably come back as the season went on. I think that is the case with most of them, they'll come back to their senses and watch how it turns out.

From what I found on that site, its looks like I could sign on and say 20 million watched. That is of course possible, but what motivation would anyone have for doing that? Besides, he/she woulf be humiliated once the official ratings became known. BTW, bear in mind that the "Fast Nationals" are a rating of same-day TV and DVR viewers. The final number for the week total will rise a bit, because FX replays the episodes.

Maybe it was all Lem fans lol million women that left. I know I questioned watching again. Lem was a big part of the team and I loved watching him come through the door with the double barrel shot gun and picking up the punks so easily and all the action involved. Only when I watched the little blips here and there online and season 5 discs did I realize the importance to his death and where the shield needed to go to actually end only then did I come to appreciate them killing him off. My initial reaction was anger and hatred for Shane. Now I actually feel sorry for Shane after watching first show this yr. I will have to agree though that it has become to much like a soap opera instead of a action packed cop show. I think that watching Vic and Shane struggle already in the first episode this yr with all the emotions has taken away from the action packed shield I once fell in love with.

no offense but the ones that said they would never watch again suck. I don't have too much faith in ratings and with this show they don't mean much since we know season 7 is already ordered. I was pissed about Lem too but to never watch again no way I have to see what happens. This show is must see tv for me
