By the way, once Shane didn't phone Vic and let Lem speak to him I started to get a really bad feeling about things....

It's time someone said it. There's no way you can blame anyone but Shane for Lem's death. No blaming Aceveda, Kavanaugh, Antwon, or even Vic. This is on Shane. Hell, I've been siding with Kavanaugh over Vic most of the season, but, still, there is no way this burden can be put on Vic.
That said. I saw some eery parallels between Terry's death and Lem's death. The way Lem's eyes in his last moments just calmly closed, it was virtually identical to Terry.

On second viewing, it does not appaer as though Shane touched Lem's car. It's VERY hard to tell. I don't think his prints will show up.

Watching it again, you knew Shane did it alone. He said "Lem buddy, I'm sorry! But I had to.". The bastard.

true... still terry and lem were no parallel... terry was a rat, and a way of showing people that the shield wasnt going to be like "homicide:life on the streets"

Plot-wise, it was brilliant for Shane to use a grenade. Pin it on the whole El Salvadoran grenade gang case.
Personaly.........I feel ill. :-(

When Claudette tells Dutch that his transfer is denied, Billings gives him a look that basically says, "Oh shit." It's great. Or at least as great as it can be considering Lem's dead body is sitting three yards away.

God damn, man. I almost never cry, especially over a t.v. show, but damn I got choked up watching Lem. I mean, this is 5 years I've invested in the show. The big spoiler going around was that Ronnie was supposed to get killed. I had completely bought into it and was just sitting there watching the episode, disappointed that I knew what was gonna happen, and just waiting for Ronnie to get shot. And then Shane just did that. Wow...and for some reason I don't feel angry at Shane. I feel almost bad that Lem made him do it.
And as for Vic being involved, he'd go to prison before killing one of his 3 guys. Why, oh why can't they give us season 6 early. Like this summer. Just wow, what can I say.

Speaking of parallels, I truly thought Vic was going to punch out a window of the car, just like Lem did in 1.02, right after Terry was pronounced dead.
Shane definitely had gloves on. God, what a gut-wrenching scene.

Vic has mentored Shane from day one. Shane would do anything to protect Vic and the team even if that means doing what he did tonight because that is what he felt was necessary even if it meant going behind Vic's back to do it. Vic has taught Shane it is okay to kill a cop if they are going to put you and the team away. AND Aceveda was feeding the team a shit story about the money train. Shane acted alone to protect the team. Shane met up with Lem ahead of the team to feel him out and when he saw that Lem had no intention of going with the plan, he felt Lem needed to be silenced. The grenade scenario can go many directions. (and yeah...Shane wore gloves) Vic may have unwittingly created a monster with the Terry incident and Shane by his side. I love all of the strike team members and did not see this one coming at all! But, I understand how the events have led up to it. Shane would do anything for Vic. Ex: Kill Gilroy. It is about family and the team. He is doing what he has been taught and mentored to do.

Shane and the strike team could not take that chance that LEM could change his mind. LEM could have changed his mind while doing prison time. It was too much to risk it all. It was sad that LEM had to die but it was necessary for everyone else to survive. Shane only did what Vic didn't have the balls to do. I think Ronnie would have done the same thing. I know I would have done it. [glow=red,2,300] SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST!!![/glow]p.s. They should have killed Kav and Aceveda -

Now that I've thought about it some more I'm not so sure. I don't however think that it's an outlandish idea as some people on here do. That being said, I think that it makes for more of an interesting story if Vic didn't know about it but at the same time has to face the fact that he made Shane what he is. So it seems I'm in the middle of the Vic enablers, who think it's completely outlandish that Vic would ever do such a thing, and the Shane haters, who think Shane is just some screw up who needs to go. All of this, every bit of it is on Vic. Well, that's it for me tonight, goodnight everybody.
