Damn, I only caught bits and pieces of this because of interruptions. But, oh man, what bits and pieces! Has any episode of The Shield had more poignant scenes than this one? Kern left behind to die, the look on Kav's face when he found out Vic did his ex, the ending where Lem had to leave Shane and Ronnie. And those were just the ones I caught!
My first reaction to Vic coming on to Becca was oh no! please ... not her, too! But then I thought well, that's just Vic the animal's way of releasing stress. I dunno ... what did you think about that?
Speaking of Becca, is it just me or does she have some kind of Wisconsin or Minnesota accent?

Well, they had some chemistry... near-fake chemistry, but you knew it was coming (no pun intended).
Claudette and Julien were great this ep, but they don't hold a candle to the Strike Team's situation.
f*cking GREAT ep.

I think this was the best episode yet this year, Good bye Kern or should we say adios M C Hasbeen. It will seem like forever until next week, Just don't see corrine giving herself to kav the way sadie gave it up to vic, Maybe kav rapes her and then it is time for the showdown with kav and vic.

Awesome episode! So much great stuff packed into one hour. Did anybody see Claudette's promotion coming? My favorite part of the show was the ending with the Pumpkins. I love how they used to wrap up the episodes with a great tune. They haven't really done that in awhile.

And so many great lines this ep too! The second time that "pussy/sweet butter" line came on, I actually told my mom to turn to FX.

A plus from me as well. The best all season!
My favorite bit was the grin on Vic's face- when that dimple comes out- as he start in on Kav's ex..... Holy balls of agnes!
The ending tune/scenes- OH Yeah!- it rocks as well.

Vic had such a surprised joyous look when Sadie jumped him. It didn't show up too well in my miniature screengrab, I might change it, but there are so many moments to choose from.
What a mind-blowing episode. A-freakin-plus. Right up there with the best of the show. Next week promises more.
Great job from a freshman director. Kurt Sutter rules!
Wow.

Oh shit.
Of all the guys to suffer… pains me to see Lem like this. Kenny has done such a great job over the years making this character completely three dimensional.
The grin on Vic’s face when Kav’s ex-wife made her intentions clear… f*cking priceless. The wheels were turning as fast as those panties were dropping.
Kern’s prolonged death scene – really grisly & unexpected. Reminds me of the cut scene from Pulp Fiction where John Travolta’s first shot didn’t kill the kid in the back seat right away...
I think it’s great that the writers chose to give Vic a psychological weapon against an opponent whose main tactic is psychology. Vic has always been smart enough to choose the tactic that will cut his opponent the deepest.
Claudette as captain… Kav getting told point blank it’s over. Powerful. Kav’s “…and that’s all in one day!” speech. Masterfully written and delivered.
Also great to see Julien let loose. Again, evidence of a character that has changed. Put this Julien against Julien from Season 1.
Cool they kept Billings' "and so forth" even in the end.
I second the compliment on Smashing Pumpkins.
Baby's coming!
Kav's with Corrine!
Lem's running to Mexico!
The teaser for the 90-min finale...!
I haven't seen a show with this much balls since they killed Sonny Steelgrave.
(I was so into the ep I didn't notice the writing/directing credits.. any help? And so forth?)

I tried to get that speech tit for tat on the rerun. Took little notes, but my little clumsy hands weren't fast enough. That speech was great.
Here's a paraphrase from what I could get... I'll just turn the exact version in to E when time comes.
Kav: I just confirmed some disturbing news. Did you cut a deal with Curtis Lemansky? Chief: Yeah Kav: I thought we said no deals. I try to spin the charges to get Lem to flip on the others. And you derailed that with this deal. Chief: This investigation is going nowhere. This Lem mess is over. Kav: Heh... so we're just going to let Mackey skate? He pisses on us, and we just smile? VIC KILLS COPS! HE DEALS DRUGS! HE BEATS SUSPECTS! I just found out... Vic had sex with my ex wife, for the sole purpose of making this investigation look like a personal vendetta. He probably killed a gang leader. And that's all in one day! I wonder what he'll do today... I wonder what he's going to do tomorrow! He's pissin' on us... He's piss... How does it taste?! Huh?! Because to me, it tastes like piss. Chief: You've got 48 more hours to seal this case off. Until then. Captain Wyms needs her office.

eddiekaay, Kurt Sutter and Charles Eglee got the writing credits.
The directing gig belonged to Gwyneth Horder-Payton, a former 1st AD on The Shield. FX posted a weblog by her last week, but it had a lot of spoilers about this episode in it, so it got put into Snitches. Maybe one of our Mods can move it back now. It's a pretty good read.
That's one thing about this family--they take care of their own. For Shawn Ryan to give a former assistant a shot at a script and a 1st AD a chance to direct such a pivotal episode...that's love, man. She kept the tight, claustrophobic feel of the show. Loved every scene Kavanaugh was in.
I only have one slight quibble, and that's with the Glory Hole case. It really felt like a scene was trimmed out--they went from having a sketch of the suspect to cutting the lock off a dumpster. I felt like there was some rushed dialogue during the beginning of that scene to explain it, but I'm wagering there was an altogether different setup scene, or an extended version.
(ETA: corrected spelling of director's name)

Wow wow freakin' wow! A+ episode for sure! It was a wee bit disjointed here and there (probably an editing/time issue) but it was just so freakin' intense the entire time.
The cat/mouse game continues with Kavanaugh and Vic, although it is sometimes hard to figure out which one is the cat! The "it's over" scene with Kavanaugh was great...wonderful acting. RIP Kern Little. :-(
I loved the fact that Julien cracked a case. His character needed something to do.
Given the fact that we only have a "look" from Rebecca prior to this eppy, I had a bit of a problem with Rebecca and Vic kissing, but I will forgive that little bit of soap opera because this was a kickass episode.
Well done!
