This was one of my all time faves.
I loved the exchange between Tina, Julian, and the UC cop.
I can't wait until Dutch gets nice and cozy with Tina, thinking he's got a shot at getting with her, and she shuts him down. Maybe we'll get shades of the cat killing and he'll strangle her.
Vic and Kav - I can't believe how powerful those two forces are on screen. The conflicts with Ascevada and Rowlings were nothing compared to Kav. Every nasty thing Kav does makes me laugh. It's too perfect. I didn't think he could top the psychotic rampage last week when he arrested Lem, but the stunt at the house with Terri's brother. Dang - I swear, when I saw that guy standing in the corner, I kept thinking it was the landlord or something.
Another exchange I loved
I'm just ticked off that the season wraps in a couple of weeks. Are any of the remaining shows going to run longer than an hour?

I hope Vic is not the dad of Danny's kid just to make Corrine look like the douche she is, WOOOO! YEEEEESSSSS! I can't stand Corrine at all; since she took the kids in S1 I've always hated her character; whining, pathetic, weak, annoying. ANYTHING that makes her look like an idiot is golden in my book. She fucked up AGAIN by ratting about the $65K. Maybe Vic will toss her off a building or something. If she had confronted Danny anywhere else but the Barn, Danny woulda popped her right in the mouth and deservedly so. It's her own damn fault her assets are frozen; she hired a lousy atty! "Here, Mr. IAD officer, here's enough evidence to put me and my ex in jail and our kids in foster care, but don't worry about making a deal with me right now; we'll get around to that eventually." IDIOT!
Why are men who sleep with lots of women called "studs" and women who sleep with lots of men are called "whores?"
Anyway, this episode was amazing; another A from E. All the eps this season have garnered A's from me thus far. I think "Smoked" refers to the weed, and someone made the comment earlier that Kav is trying to "smoke out" Vic - great observation. The most memorable moment for me was that big man hug between Lem and Vic at the county jail. I think the camerawork has a lot to do with why a particular scene or moment is so intense for me....
<SNIP> Oh yeah, Becca wants Vic. "Right now I think I'd be a better friend than an attorney." (paraphrased) Hmmmmmm.
Whew.... the preview for next week's ep looks INSANE! There's a thread in the Snitches board for analyzing it, I won't give anything away here -- but DAAAAAAMMMNN!
================================
edit: combined posts to avoid the perilous double-posting! [/color] Remember Nancy always calling Vic the "manwhore"?... it is a double-standard, of course. But a woman who throws herself at a married guy is the one who leads him astray, so I fault Danny in this adulterous affair. And getting knocked up *by whomever* is the ultimate in irresponsibility, esp for a woman in a position of authority or public trust. I look down on her for these reasons.
I am going to stand by Corrine, too, which I can hardly believe I'm saying! I hated her in the first season with her whiny ass housewife behaviors. Now I feel compassion for her. She did nothing wrong other than trust the corrupt man she married...the *cop killer* she was already married to. She's as disabled as any woman who's lived off of a man too long, shackled to three kids. At least she's picking herself up, slowly as it is, working to support herself and making hard but honest choices. I respect her for that much, and I don't think she owes Vic a damn thing...again, he's the one who put her in this position. Of course she's making mistakes--she doesn't have a soiled, black heart like Vic's.
When I consider Corrine, I just know there cannot be an "all's well" type ending for Vic. The gods will not allow it!
Dean White directed this one. He's terrific at capturing those sexy, intense, meaningful headshots of Vic and the boys. That's why he's my favorite of the TS directors!
When I heard the words, one more episode before the season finale... I freaked! What are we going to do without our weekly fix?

The only problem i had with this episode is that Clauette was back with a cane. No police department would ever let someone work in the field in her condition. Nice call on that you're absolutely right. She should at least be on light duty until she gets cleared from her doctor, hell she said she was supposed to be on bed rest, what if she needed to get involved in a deadly force situation, LAWSUIT LAWSUIT. A+ for this episode it was like watching season 1, great suspense. If the shield doesn't win an Emmy for best drama this year I'm going on a shooting rampage.

It was weird seeing Claudette return and not ONE SINGLE OTHER PERSON greeting her. That's because nobody likes her!!! Dutch and her are the "Bottom Bitches" around the Barn.

hm, there was $250K in the bag...so $100K goes to Smitty and the rest went back to the drug dealer guy? Or is there still $150K floating around that might pop up again next week...?

Just an observation: This episode was very remeniscent/ nostalgic of the season 2 episode "Dead Soldiers" for me for two reasons. 1) The suspensful angle of Vic trying to stay one step ahead of Claudette. 2) The return of Smitty, who if you remember correctly made his debut appearance in Dead Soldiers. This one was great, not as good as Dead Soldiers which was in the top three best of season 2.

Also. I think for any of us who have been wanting to see a return of the vicious, merciless mackey from early in the series, he was on his game last night. and next episode, forget about it... Cant wait!

When I heard the words, one more episode before the season finale... I freaked! What are we going to do without our weekly fix? We're going to huddle together in the rubber room and rock back and forth in our straight jackets. Gawd, I feel like I've been on a 9 week bender; totally indulging my greatest addiction, and I only have 2 weeks left before my supply dries up!! Well, at least we can see it coming.....

I like the way everyone seems to be playing each other. Aceveda is trying manuever so Vic and Kavanaugh don't find out that he had Juan killed. Kavanaugh is trying to play Vic and Aceveda against each other while keeping is deal with Antwon secret. Vic is trying to pit Aceveda against Kavanaugh. The watercooler guy from TV Guide pointed this out and I have to agree: Antwon is the only one in a comfortable position at this point because he's got dirt on all three of them. I love how this is playing out.

Good Lord, is there a better written series on television?
This was a classic ratchet-up-the-tension Shield episode. I gotta watch it again before I can really break it down, but DAMN, 'Smoked' was a terrific episode.
Dutch's little grey flecks are really starting to show. This is the first time they've jumped out at me.
It does look like FX came to their senses and have abandoned that silly "First Half of Season 5" thing.

Dutch's hair hit me too. Ever since Season 5 started. Maybe it was because I was watching earlier DVDs, but it's there. In Seasons 1 and 2 (limiting in case I'm wrong about 3 and 4), dude had a full head of dark brown hair. Now, though he doesn't show much aging in the face, that hair is stressed out.

sorry, can you run the "silly first half of season 5" thing by me...? I've thought every episode of the season so far has been great, so just wondering.
i love how claudette says to Vic "your intel's not what it used to be". then he goes out and barely escapes by the skin of his teeth w/ the bag of cash...just like w/ the money train. brilliant.

I think the "silliness" referred to is the divided season. FX is now saying the Season 5 Finale is in 2 weeks, so they must have dropped the idea of a split season. I'll bet they call next January's eps "Season 6."

No no no. That's not true, maybe. No one has said WHEN the next set of episodes will air. It may be sooner than January. We just don't know yet.
