A+ WOW!!! This has got to be the best of the season yet. If Chiklis, Whitaker, and the show itself doesn't win some Emmy's this year I'm gonna be super pissed. You just don't see acting like this anywhere!!

I know the remaining money train cash isn't marked, but what if it is covered in the fingerprints of known Armenian mob dudes, not to mention the rest of the ST members?

You know what? If Lem used his damn brain it would all be over right now. Why the hell would he save Kav from the grenade? He should have just run from the Grenade. Kav would have been dead and investigation over!

Yet another thing that separates him from Vic.

Holy Crap Holy Crap Holy Crap!
Late in writing this, but I really loved this eppy (and not just the last 4 minutes). I loved not always knowing what Vic and the guys were talking about (because it was from Kavanagh's POV), I liked seeing Kav squirm to try to deal with all of his competing agendas. Acting all the way around was just brilliant.
I cannot help but think ol' Kav has a screw loose, too. The way he went off on Dutch when he questioned his wife's testimony made me want to jump through the telly and smack Kavanaugh around! This guy is alienating everyone!
Is it just me, or did this signal the unravelling of Kavanaugh's case? In the beginning of the episode, we see that he is extremely methodical (ring smack in the center of the square, everything put away "Just So") in the way he does things. He has been acting very methodically this entire season in his attempt to put Vic away. Now, he goes unhinged and arrests Lem. Ok, so he made the arrest, but not in the way he wanted to. He also has just compromised his belief system in teaming up with Antwon. To me, it looked as though this could be the beginning of the end for him.
In addtion, he is pissing EVERYONE off to the point where even those who are slightly on his side (Aceveda, Dutch, etc.) are going to hate him. I don't know, but I just got the feeling that ol' Jon went to a place that he never expected and now he is going to have to wing it.
A+ eppy... acting, POV, writing... all of it, superb.

If Lem was not found guilty by a judge or jury, why would he be in the same prison as convicted killers, especially cop killers?
I don't know much about police stations, but what is the cage there for anyways? Isn't it for those awaiting trial or just a temporary holding cell before they are moved to jail or prison?

I wonder what Vic said to Emolia just after the grenade went off? Kav sure looked pissed. Was he consoling her and being nice, or was it him threatening her?
What do you think?

i think he told her that she better not say anything bad about the team to get them in jail or else something bad is gonna happen.
or
she gave vic the lowdown on what Kav has told her to do. vic still wants to know that he still has control over her.
Good question.
Why didn't Kav say thanks to Lem for saving his life?! The prick!

This episode was awesome!
I got to say that Gina Torres was great. In addition to the other shows metioned, she was also a regular on Hercules. She was also in the kick-ass show, Cleopatra 2525, which, unfortunately, only lasted 1 season....
Lem is a bad-ass. He's scared, but I think he'll kick some serious ass in prison before anyone takes him down.
The whole Vic and Kavanaugh thing is coming to a head, and I can't wait to see how Vic will start digging into him.

Kav would have been dead and investigation over! Now that is an excellent point, badcop! And damned funny, too. Lem just went with his instincts I guess. I was also thinking the same thing as personacom in a later post: "In addtion, he is pissing EVERYONE off to the point where even those who are slightly on his side (Aceveda, Dutch, etc.) are going to hate him."

Great episode - solid A.
However, I do believe that Corinne must have hired the dumbest attorney on the planet - here is the evidence I told you about.....now can I have my immunity deal?!?! WTF!!!
Also, agree with previous posts about how Lem would not be in with general population in jail - especially if he is just under arrest and not convicted yet.

Also, agree with previous posts about how Lem would not be in with general population in jail - especially if he is just under arrest and not convicted yet. Let's not forget to allow some leeway for the fact that The Shield is a television show for our entertainment. It doesn't have to adhere to reality in every single aspect; that might be a tad boring..... Putting Lem in with the general population where he has the chance to interact with Antwon offers the opportunity for some cool shit; screw the reality of Lem sitting in solitary, please.

GRRR, no torrents anywhere to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, could someone PM me please? My buddy doesn't get to watch it Tuesday night so he gets off work at like 2 am and downloads it every single week. He called me at 2 am this morning FREAKING out because he couldn't find it and made me get up and check my private, pay for news group that I subscribe to. Needless to say, it is M.I.A. this week. SUCKAS!!! --Dan P.S. Then I proceeded to tell him how the episode immediately jumped to no. 2 or no. 3 on my all time list. Once again, SUCKAS!!

Well, i am definitely going to have to catch the rerun of this episode because after reading everyone else's really high praise for the ep, I think I might've underrated. I might not have given it the full attention it deserves.

For those on the "general population" kick... The Shield has always had its moments of melodrama for the sake of cliffhangers.
Need I remind you all of the Corrine-Thrown-Off-A-Building teaser a few seasons back?
That said, yes, it's implausible. But I'll forgive it cuz it's the best show on TV, even with a shortcut or two.

Man, the Corrine/building promo was a dream sequence of Vic's... why did everyone forget that?! It wasn't supposed to be "scenes from upcoming eps;" it was a promo designed to show Vic's subconscious worries -- his nightmares.
He chases some perp up to this roof and the perp throws Corrine over the edge. Then suddenly, Vic is standing on the roof, surrounded by the rest of the cast all pointing their guns at him; Shane, Lem, Ronnie, Claudette, Dutch,Aceveda, Danny, Julien..... The circle of people starts to close in around him and then we see Vic sit up in bed in his crappy motel room, covered in sweat.
Anyway, on the general pop. issue, I just don't want to read a bunch of posts that say, "That would never happen in real life..." SO WHAT?! As chem mentioned above, there is a nitpickers thread in the Season 5 board for people who want to pick apart details. I, for one, just want to enjoy the show the way the writers wrote it - whether or not it would happen like that "in real life" makes no difference to me when I'm wrapped up in what my Strike Team boys are doing.

The way I see it, implausibility is only a problem if it distracts you while you're watching it. However if you think of something that doesn't make sense several days or weeks after seeing the episode, that's no big issue. For example, I pointed out on another thread that it might not make sense for Kavanaugh to have a picture of Terry lying dead in the drug dealer's house, but I only thought of that a week or two after the fact, so it's no big deal.

Exactly, lynch! Thanks for articulating that so well. We now return to your regularly scheduled ep discussion...
I must have missed Dutch's reference to Claudette recovering - glad to know she's OK. Wondering what else I missed; I had a "non-Shield-fan" for company Tuesday, and was distracted a bit. I'm gonna go watch it again right now in fact. I need to get the quotes right for the Best Line Poll anyway...
PLEASE GO VOTE IN THE POLLS, PEOPLE!! You will make the Rap Staff very happy by doing so. And we all want Happy Staffies, right?!! Lord knows I do.... hee hee So go vote; what can it hurt? Besides, all the cool people are doing it.
