This is probably the best DVD set for this series so far. For the first time since Season 1, there are commentaries for every episode. The special features are all informative and interesting. The tribute to Scott Brazil is excellent. So what do they do when they put together the best DVD set for a season ever? They f*ck it up with their new, improved, peice-of-shit packaging that ruins your whole set! What a shitload of f*ck! I'm really upset about this.
P.S. By they way, I still had leftover Best Buy Christmas gift cards, so my set was FREE!

Shane's a redneck, Chem. Sorry, but I've seen and known enough of them to last a lifetime. Jan the man~ I was a little surprised with the packaging too because of the way Seasons 1-4 were. I could have gotten it in a plain paper bag, though. As long as I got it!

By the way, everyone, make sure to watch the Season 6 prequel. Keep your eyes open for the sexy chick in a white dress on the balcony in the Barn....

Like I said, I don't care about the packaging it's the DVD's I wanted. I think the pic on the front of the box was cool as shit, though. Also the picture of Chicky on the first DVD!

I'm with you on that. I think the artwork on the S5 dvd set is pretty ccol. Rednecks need love, too. Esp. redneck chicks.

They killed Lem because the show is about telling a good story. If you can't see Lem's death as a masterstroke of storytelling then I feel sorry for you. I saw that masterstroke, and love the show even more because of all the parallels and character reflection that moment drew. But I understand where Bailey's coming from. We always want to say the Strike Team got off light every season until 5, when in truth season 2 was the only great stroke of luck. Season 1 ended with Vic's family on the run, season 3 with around a million dollars cash torched, season 4 with IAD having a solid case against the team, and season 5... you know. I believe that the Shield would have still been my favorite show if Lem HAD gotten out of his fate somehow without snitching on the team. But that's not to say what happened didn't totally own my soul.

If you pause at the right time, and your player has a zoom function all of E can be seen. Why is it for the deleated scenes the only commentary is from Shawn Ryan and Jay Karnes? The S.R. part I get, but not why J.K. is the only other person doing them. I loved during the "Delivering the Baby" Michael Jace in his Julien uniform saying "f*ck" Bad things about the DVD- Small box. No FW commentary....ANYWHERE. Those are my only complaints.

At least I have an excuse tonight: the pres. of the univ. had a reception this afternoon and I asked the help to give me a Wild Turkey/Corona Boilermaker. Good stuff. Anyway, good to see you again. I do remember we have a thread with your name in the title -- the jan the man rule. Am I right?

I finished watching the commentaries through Tapa Boca (episode 4), and Paula Graces (sp?) is just as annoying as Tina was on the show. She participated on the 2nd episode commentary and was somewhat reserved, but on Tapa Boca she let go and rambled on, and on, and on... Somone else mentioned the "sweet butter" comments by Chiklis on I believe the 3rd episode. Completely hilarious.

If you pause at the right time, and your player has a zoom function all of E can be seen. "All of meeeeeeeE..." har har I believe it was during the first or second deleted scene... SR said something along the lines of running into Jay as he was heading into the studio to do the commentaries for the deleted scenes -- he asked him to sit in. I forget; something like that.... they joke around a bit about Dutch being in a large percentage of the cut scenes.... By the way, everyone, make sure to watch the Season 6 prequel. Keep your eyes open for the sexy chick in a white dress on the balcony in the Barn.... We all know E is hot!.....Quit sucking up! hahaha No, don't!! The commentary for the 2nd ep is LAME. Dude is a terrific director, but whoa... Catherine Dent stepped up and started asking questions to get conversations going, but more than once one of them mentioned how badly their commentary was going! duh...

I bought mine at Target for $45. Well worth it - I'm watching the Promosode right now and will watch the other extras next; then on to the episode commentaries.... THIS ROCKS! However, I'm very unhappy about the way the box set looks. It doesn't match the other seasons at all; it's their skinny white trash cousin! lol OK, that was harsh.... yeah i got mine too on the 27th, i got it at like, 830 am. couldn't wait. the set looks alright i guess, i like the cover picture though. the special features in the dvd are awesome too.

One thing I noticed was that Catherine Dent seemingly let a spoiler slip in the "Enemy of Good" commentary. And Paula Garces either tried doing a little damage control by playing dumb or CD was mistaken.

GOT MINE LAST NIGHT! WOOOOOOOO! THANK YOU AMAZON!
Not only did they deliver 10 days before the original "scheduled" delivery date, they automatically and with no bitching or prompting from me, refunded me the $2.00 difference b/w the $41.99 price they had been charging for it, and the $39.99 that other places started charging for it after I had already placed my order. Amazon rox.
I agree that it's very skinny (skinnier, in fact, than the Unrated Special Edition Director's Cut of Sin City that I bought along with it) and doesn't look like a full TV season. But then again, the show's creators keep insisting that it's not a full season, don't they? This is only "Season 5A". Maybe once they release the DVD of "Season 5B", they'll issue a DVD box cover that (a) will contain both "halves" of S5 and (b) match the other DVD sets in terms of color. This has been done before with other sets, and would be sort of cool.
