well first off i wouldnt call it a brawl because it was very weak. second off i think the writers or whatever should have made vic get the upper hand. so needless to say i was very disappointed with it. they looked like to little kids rolling around the ground come on. there should of at least been some punches thrown.

Yeah it kind of needed a punch or two. Or some old fashioned facial grilling.

I think VIc should have walked up slowly to Kav, given him the classic '"Vic" staredown, then belt him with a vicous roundhouse, then see Kav's big black ass hit the dirt!

I was disappointed in that ending, too. Vic shoulda at least snarled, "if it wasn't for you, Lem would be alive. You're gonna pay" Or something! I'd love to see him whoop Kavannaugh's ass!

I have felt since the first episode this season with Kav that the writers were writing for someone other than Forrest Whitaker as Kav. Whitaker is sloppy, fat, and has a droopy eye. But, from the start, every character is written to give him the same respect that he got when he was Charles Jefferson at Ridgemont High. I was expecting the guys to call him Droopy or Fat Albert, or say "Hey! hey! hey!" when he was near, but they didn't do anything.
Then, to make the ultimate insult, the fat, sloppy, bench jockey holds his own in a fight with Mackey, who is supposed to be taking down gang members on a regular basis? That is a joke.
I know a lot of people think Whitaker is doing a great acting job in the series, but I think it would be as believable if they cast Barney the purple dinosaur as Kav. They could have portrayed him as a smart investigor who has a great mind to figure out what the strike team has done. But to think that a sloppy guy like Whitaker can intimidate the kind of cops that the strike team represents, by confronting and challenging them is poor writing (or casting).

As much of that slang The Shield has in it, I'd hope that couldn't possibly offend you.

The black ass remark was totally not necessary. Just to set the record straight, the black ass remark was not meant in an offensive or racist way, sometimes I let the show's blunt approach get the best of me. As for him hitting the dirt, still needs to happen.

I was disappointed in it also, it looked like they were just rolling around in the dirt. Vic should have gotten some punches in somewhere, there was plenty there.

Well, Vic scored points for pushing Kavanaugh up against the car with the window smashing and did seem to land a blow when they were on the ground. Furthermore, he was on top of Kavanaugh at that point, so if the fight had been allowed to continue...
However, the way they did it was the way ti would have played out in real life. The fight would have been broken up fairly quickly. Besides, Kavanaugh is a big boy, and remember how he kicked ass in the Salvadorian raid in episode 8? He's no pushover.

i thought the fight looked fake, it didn't look real to me. i didn't see any blood, to me it seemed staged really bad.

Well, some fights are really really crappy like that and I have seen alot of fights. But it is difficult to belive that Vic couldnt break away from Kavanaugh and hit him or stomp his head into the dirt or somthing. I cannot belive somone would have the nerve to say that after somones best friend just died.

I have a feeling that Vics time to kick Kavanaughs ass will come in the second half of season 5.

Everyone who was there was hurting so deeply and they knew the history between Kavanaugh and the strike team when vic and kavanaugh went at it they should of let them duke it out and finish it. wrestling on the ground? c'mon that didnt do any justice for the end of the season ya'know?

I liked the brawl because it was realistic for a whole host of reasons. Vic wasn't exactly at the top of his game at that very second. Emotionally speaking, he was too ditraught to really be as effective in fighting Kavanaugh as one might think because Lem had just died. Of course, the whole reason Vic charged Kavanaugh was because Kavanaugh said, "Are you happy now?" which think is honestly the absolutely worst thing he could have said to Vic at that very second.
Also, while Kavanaugh is kind of out of shape early on in Season 5, he trims down rather quickly and--let's not forget--he was a Gold Gloves guy, as Ronnie and Vic uncover in 5x03 Jailbait. In other words, he's a tough guy, too.
