Take your pick of just about any Shawn Ryan commentary over Deleted Scenes from Seasons 1-5. Seemingly every scene that was trimmed was done so because of "time constraints." Some of the scenes were lost gems that could have told a better tale, but others were better left on the cutting room floor in the interest of having a tight episode.
Season 6 of The Shield has seemingly relaxed the need to meet the standard 42-43 minutes of One Hour Television. In your eyes, is this an improvement?

I was moved to ask this question after watching 5.19, 6.08, Man of the Wrath, Math of the Wrath, Law of Shane...whatever the hell this episode is officially called.
The knockoff purse storyline immediately felt like the type of superfluous C-or-D-Story that Shawn Ryan used to leave on the cutting room floor. It was a nice LA story and a hip thing to explore, but it felt out of place here.
It did offer a bonding experience between Tina & Danny, and even Corrine & Danny. Whether or not the whole sequence pays off in future episodes by having these bonds tested or strengthened remains to be seen. For right now, the sequence felt out of place.
