Hey is it just me or was any one else ticked off about knowing what the final scene of episode 5 was from the previous week's promo?
I mean, if the "shane getting is ass whoped" scene happend earlier in the show I wouldn't have been as pissed, but the fact that we all knew it was coming up really got to me. Although the part with the girl getting shot and planting the evidence on Shane/Army was a shocker...the whole scene still didn't have the shock value it could have had if we weren't expecting Antwon and his crew to take down shane/army.
Although I can see why FX would do something like that...and show the most intense scenes (to attract viewers)...it does ruin it for fans if they show the clips of the final scenes.
Does anyone else agree, disagree?

I agree. Other shows I like do it, too. One could always say "don't watch the promo", but then they show it at the beginning of the new ep and it gets to be a hassle having to play games with when to start watching just to avoid a spoiler.

i guess i'm on the other side of this one. I focus on the details during the show, and even though it's in the back of my mind that the scene will happen, I thought what Antwan did at that scene to emerge as "hardass criminal" instead of "softie with a side business" was great, regardless of the fact that i had seen some of it in a promo. looks like he has a real dark side we're just finding out about (and Shane as well; he pushed Antwan way too hard).
If anything bothers me about the promos, it's that they're usually very misleading (or were, last season, I thought). This season they're a bit more streamlined, but in seasons past they were all over the place, IMO.

Now that I've been thinking about this for the last couple of episodes I realize I don't commit the promos to my memory. lol! I watch them, get excited for the next ep and then promptly forget them! So no, they don't annoy me or anything. ;-)

I am on both sides I think...
I recently got my parents into the show, and we are viewing the DVD's. I can't imagine how cool it must be to have no idea what is coming in the next episode. But for myself, spoilers and things like that promo don't bother me so much. I read the star wars Episode 3 spoilers as soon as they came out... for me there is a gigantic difference in reading what happens, or seeing a small clip out of context, and watching the full version. i.e., when Anakin was laying there burning and Obi-Wan walked away, I wasn't thinking "I knew that was coming" I was wrapped up in the moment.... Same way for the shield. In the promo I just said "Hmm.. Shane gets his ass kicked" Then when I see the actual episode, the moment is so much more visceral because of what happens in that entire scene.

But look how much attention the S05 promo is generating. Unfortunately, the fans already watch the show--so it won't really create new fans--and just makes us crazy with speculation and dread (the big "is this the final season??" question)
Would I rather see the promo or not... see it! Gets my juices flowing!! Even when they are deceptive or too revealing, I'll take a promo over no promo anytime. I am a shameless Shield junky.

I will always love watching promos and previews and anything I can get my eyeballs on! "...shameless Shield junkie," pretty much sums it up for me, too.
I really am an information junkie, and the previews and promos on TV, and inside info here at TheRap feed that need. ;D
