Well, I got the DVD a while back and only just cracked it open the other day. I watched the entire season in 3 days. I thought my opinion of this show would have faded, but it has only grown. What a powerful season. When it originally aired I had mixed feelings because I didn't want it to end and I wanted to see how it ended. Somehow in my conflicted feelings of the series ending I lost how well constructed this season is; how well acted, written, produced, and filmed. I forgot about Tevon, but when he walked into the room I gasped, probably along with Shane. Once again this is the show that all other police drama's should be measured against.

Your feelings about S07 were shared by many others, including me. What did you think of the series finale?

Your feelings about S07 were shared by many others, including me. What did you think of the series finale? well, you all can burn me at the stake for my heresy, but I will finally say it - almost a year removed and after watching S7 from beginning to end AGAIN I stick to my original opinion - S7 was a major disappointment and the finale perhaps the biggest letdown of the whole series - with the exception of the Shane story, Ronnie's realization that he was totally screwed and the very last minute, man, it was just weak from ep1 to the bitter end - no resolution to so many series-long arcs and bringing in the whole ICE storyline was a complete buzzkiller - poorly realized and completely out-of-place in a season just begging for some scenes from those characters there at the beginning of the series (I'm talking to you Aceveda and Micheal Jace and Dutch) - there remains no doubt that the show is indeed the gold standard of cop shows (sorry, Wire, you are overrated) and it will always remain in my all-time top five and I still miss it - just regret it went out with such a so-so season - you want to see a great series finale, check out Epitafios on Netflix - and so far Damages is matching The Shield ep for ep Chem, after all those years over on TSF and on TSR, weren't you even a little bummed? Anxious to hear what the new folks think

Anxious to hear what the new folks think So, I take it you don't agree with Maureen Ryan, TV critic for the Chicago Tribune (no relation to Shawn Ryan), who was quoted as saying The Shield's was best series finale in the history of television? A lot of people will join you at the stake. I wasn't crazy about the ICE storyline either, especially the ICE Queen being in the dirty secret file of the Mexican BBB (bad boy businessman, not Better Business Bureau, heh). That seemed a little contrived, but trying to tie up a bunch of unresolved arcs in the last season might be perceived that way, too. The finale itself left a few questions, too. I never really got why Ronnie's deal wasn't honored by ICE. But as to how the ending went down ... yeah, I liked it. I liked the look on Vic's face when the realization came to him of what he needed to do and the way he shoved his piece in his belt. His whole world was crumbling at his feet but even if he was deluding himself, he wasn't going to cave. What exactly was going to happen next was left to the imagination of the viewer, but you got the feeling that it wasn't going to be Vic getting beaten by ICE. Instead, he was going to find a way to beat that system, too.

I liked the season overall, the ICE thing kinda sucked, but my only beef with what was said above is from JWC "and so far Damages is matching The Shield ep for ep" B.S. Damagaes is OK, I do watch it, but they can't even come close to shield quality. Season 1 & 2 were ok, but this season is just sucking wind, how can I tell??? I am not hooked, could not care less about what is going on, I am not even curious as to the car accident or why tate donovan is dead? Just don't care.
Now last season I was very curious to see How and Why Ellen was pointing and firing a gun at what appeared to be glenn close.
Anyway, just my .02. I am getting excited by the previews of "justified" on FX, Walt looks great in the previews. Playing a redneck is just perfect for him! A crazy redneck at that.

I agree, Chem, that the very last minutes of the final ep with Vic were really good but the rest, well, I stand by my original post - SR ended it the way he wanted I'm guessing and that's okay - i can't help but wonder if there hadn't been a writers' strike if we would have gotten something different - I remember during the S5 set visit they told us that SR had this plotted out all the way to the end but somehow I don't think this was quite the intended vision - that ICE story was so half-baked and it seemed so out of place - anyways, blah blah blah, ha ha - and we'll have to agree to disagree about Damages, BC - as good as the first two seasons were this one, imho, is going to turn out even better - and I am totally psyched for Justified - I love that all the trailers have been different - just a few more weeks til it debuts

Your feelings about S07 were shared by many others, including me. What did you think of the series finale? Haunting...Shane's suicide, Vic in the Box starring coldly @ Claudette. After now, watching the entire series (over the last few weeks) the finale, is fitting.....although originally I wasn't happy about it...it fits...I remember Shawn Ryan and Chiklis being interviewed before it ended and they said it would all make sense....to me it now does. I'm curious how Vic will handle his 3 years stint with ICE and if Ronnie survives the Antwon Mitchel prison threat....Corinne and the kids progress (if Cassidy who would be an adult now tried to reconnect with Vic)...is Claudette still alive, working, How's Dutch, Dani, Julian?.... The plot lines for a Shield movie do exist, but I don't think it will happen.
