A little off subject but is anyone watching lights out? I thought I would hate it, but actually it has me hooked. Lights Out was cancelled today unfortunately I heard that, an interview with FX showed slow numbers, but once again goes back to their promotion. Their pre season teasers made it look like another Rocky, or the fighter, when in fact was nothing like that. Anybody who has watched the show knows that, but the problem was no one was apparently watching to find out. I think FX's biggest problem is how they promote shows, I remember the promoted lights as "everyone loves a comeback" well yeah, but nothing about the crime and behind the scenes issues of Lights getting these fights and dealing with gangsters to make ends meet. Just like Terriers, I think FX and their promotion is to blame. I have to admit I thought the show would suck , based on their teasers, but Because it is FX (home of the shield, Rescue me, Niptuck) I thought I would give it a shot, glad I did as the show was nothing like what I thought it would be.

on the bright side, FX just picked up Justified for a third season - the new TV Guide has a nice story on the show and a cool sidebar on Walton - he was a champion hog-caller as a kid and quite a clogger apparently

I'll have to check Amazon to see if S01 or S02 are on DVD. Probably too early for S02. Does anybody know?

S1 is available; S2 is halfway over and they just reupped for a S3 - the show is sort of following the arc of The Shield's first three seasons - just building and building - Walton's character is going to have a great next few episodes - I think you will like the show, Chem

A friend sent me this link: www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2011-04-05/-justified-timothy-olyphant-and-walton-goggins-on-the-fx-drama/, which makes me want to get S01 even more. By the way, I've been MIA lately due to my semi-annual "month of hell" at work. I'm sure you have similar periods. Things will somewhat slow down in mid-May. As if that weren't enough, I'm still swamped with issues related to settling the estate of my late son. I don't know when that will end.

I wish some of these shows would make more than 12 or 13 episodes per season, they make us wait a whole year for the next season and then it's over so quickly. Really enjoying Justified at the moment.
I've also recently started watching Deadwood, I know he's not supposed to but Timothy Olyphant cracks me up in that show, he has a really wooden stature about him (he seems way more relaxed in Justified) pity it didn't last for more seasons.
I've watched Boardwalk Empire as well, not sure why but that show has me intrigued.

Justified is far and away the best show on TV right now - Walton is tearing it up as Boyd and I cannot wait for the season finale next week
there are obvious comparisons to The Shield and a few things I like better
1: fewer major characters (all of them good)
plus really defined secondary characters
= no loose ends
the writers do a bang-up tying everything together - much better than the Chicago Code Shield-lite, haha
