Vic has done a lot of bad stuff. Too much to list here. What do you think is the most evil thing he has done over the course of the series? Remember: "Money and pussy make men do evil sh*t." --Vic Mackey

Whoa. I'll have to think about this before voting. As a mom, the obvious choice should be "Putting his family in danger," but don't all cops kinda run that risk just from BEING a cop? I dunno. Betraying Ronnie hurt ME more than any of that other shit, but I'm not sure it was the most evil. Sigh. I'll think on it. Good poll idea, man. ;D

^Yeah, once I really thought about it I realized how hard of a choice it is because you really can justify on some level everything he does. But that's what makes the Shield amazing.
I ended up going with betraying Ronnie because by doing that he not only betrayed Ronnie but the core value that he has stuck with the whole show "The team comes first". Plus Ronnie was willing to follow him barefoot into Hell on more than one occasion.

I still haven't voted. Been thinking about it, though. Of all the people Vic killed/taunted/tortured/hosed/put in danger, Vic's family and Terry were the most innocent. Yes, I know Terry was a rat, but he was ratting on dirty cops, which makes him a hero. Still, betraying Ronnie hurt me pretty badly.
The Shield has twisted me.

lying to Tavon, i have my reasons, it was the thing that hurt me the most, that whole scene him lying to tavon tavon being convinced, that he did something he wouldnt do,
it was the only time except for Ronnie, where he was knowingly hurting someone he liked
with ronnie, you didnt see the reaction as he did it, you just saw ronnie's reaction later, after vic had already taken the deal

I agree that was a really evil move. Telling Tavon that just totally broke him. Dec 10, 2008, 3:36pm, guy6324 wrote: Dec 10, 2008, 8:56am, -|E|- wrote: I still haven't voted. So anyone who reports a crime is a "rat"?
I'm sorry. I'm not usually so blunt/harsh on this board but the "Terry was a rat that deserved to die" argument is utterly ridiculous.
Terry wanted nothing more than compensation for being stigmatised for being a "rat". He also wasn't party to the crimes he was "ratting" on. He wasn't a crusader for truth and justice either, but he was honest in admitting this.
Vic on the other hand ratted on Ronnie for participating in crimes that he himself had orchestrated and taken part in. He lied to himself and others (Ronnie) about holding the team above everything. What he did was reprehensible and makes Terry, even with his slightly self-serving motives, seem noble.
Ratting on Ronnie wasn't the most "evil" thing that Vic did, but it was the most significant sin as far as the character goes, in my opinion. It was the sin that destroyed the image of Vic Mackey and everything he claimed to stand for. It casts new light on his other crimes as well, making them seem more self-serving.
It also reveals the reasoning behind his most evil act (killing Terry) to be hypocritical.
A cop killer is still a cop killer. Even if he has a badge.

I wanted to include that one too but the format would only let me put in 8 options. There's a link at the bottom of the 8 fields that says "Click to add more answer fields." Click that and you get 35 fields.

So anyone who reports a crime is a "rat"? Technically speaking, yes. Tattle-tale, snitch, rat. Yeah. Of course, it's a GOOD THING to report crimes, but I believe "rat" is an appropriate description for someone who does so. "Hero," "upstanding citizen," and "do-gooder" also apply. What you say is true, and points to the incredible complexity that is The Shield. It's somehow easier to justify Vic's actions because he's the main character. Not saying it's right or moral or anything like that... it's just the way it is.

Im a little late. But without a doubt torchering Guardo. Yes, he sent Ronnie to prison, but Ronnie was basically in on everything bad the strike team did.....So, he kind of deserved it in a way, unfortunatley. I guess it was a long time coming you could say.
What happened to Guardo, even though he was a piece of shit gangster, was just so evil because Guardo actually didnt do anything to deserve that type of death. He didnt kill Lem, he had nothing to do with the death of Lem in any way, he knew that when he was being torchered, beat with a chain, punched in the face, etc for something he knew nothing about. Thats just really messed up in my opinion.....Soooo, i broke the ice, and voted for Torchering Guardo!

Without a doubt, throwing Ronnie to the lions.
I couldn't believe it. The one thing Vic never did was sell out the team. The team was always the priority for him, and I was crushed when this happened.
Someone free Ronnie!

f**kin over Ronnie was the most evil, betraying a TRUE friend is the most evil thing. Especially since Ronnie was the only one who stuck my him.

I also picked screwin over Ronnie. I can't look at Mackey the same way, I can't go back and watch earlier seasons knowing that Vic screws over Ronnie.
Why is it that I can overlook all the other things on the list, but pick Vics betrayal as the worst?

I vote for torturing Guardo (and killing him) as the worst. From Vic's POV killing Terry was about survival.
Betraying Ronnie was low-down, without a doubt. In Vic's twisted mind, he might have figured it was also about survival. But, even though it was unstated, we are left with the possibility that Vic could maybe have gone to I.C.E. later and convinced them to free Ronnie, based on technicalities of Vic's deal with them.
