I'm going to DVR "Family Meeting," but I'm not going to watch it.
Once I watch, The Shield is over. If I don't watch, I'll always have that Final Episode to look forward to. The anticipation and joy of always having the Finale in my back pocket will outweigh the void that would be left if I do watch it.
Some day in the future, I'll have a particularly disastrous day. I'll have the shitty day to end all shitty days. That's the day I'm going to watch "Family Meeting." When I need the ultimate pick-me-up. Until then, I'm cool, and The Shield will not have ended for me.

You should watch it, I get the reason(s) you are not going to, but then you have to avoid TSR!!! Plus, you STILL have 7 seasons worth of The Shield to get you through those tough times!!!

I seriously doubt the finale is going to be a "pick me up". I have the feeling it's going to be a big downer (emotionally and plot-wise, certainly not quality-wise).

Yeah, I'd have to avoid the Shield Rap, too.
My wife already thinks I'm crazy for watching the old seasons as much as I do. She just gives me that Haven't you already seen this enough times? look.
I have no doubts that "Family Meeting" will knock our proverbial socks off, but as great as it will be, we'd never have a new episode to look forward to again. Ever.
But to watch would be to kill a part of me, and I'm not ready to say goodbye to that There's a new Shield to watch! part of my soul yet.

fistofvic, I don't expect it to be a Happy Ending, either. It's going to be somber and emotional, and not just because it's over. My favorite Season Finale so far has been Season 3. When I say "pick me up," I mean satisfy me, and the more gut-wrenching and powerful it is, that will satisfy me. That would pick me up from a crappy day. A well-told tale, having the ending it deserves.

Hahaha, poor Inside Straight. He's like Lem trying to decide what to do in 5x10 and 5x11. Should I watch the episode (take the DA's deal?)? Should I watch the episode tonight (run to Mexico)? Should I wait it out for a while and extend my anticipation (keep trying to get a deal with Becca)? Should I look at the spoilers and be done with it right now (rat my guys out to Becca and get protected)?
I.S., don't get an ulcer over this.
(Also, I have this strange feeling Inside will break by the time he gets five minutes away from Family Meeting tonight. He's watching that episode. It's just a matter of time. He'll break. He can't fight off the One-Niners forever.)

It truly is The End of the End. acc, you know I wouldn't rat my guys out and I'd gouge my eyes out before I went hunting for a real spoiler. I'm so conflicted. It's a great day and a horrible day all at the same time.

Wouldn't you rather watch it with all of us, so we can bear the grief together? That way we can rejoice that the series ended on its own terms, on a high, rather than having it cut off at the knees. Then we can smile sadly, thru the tears, and talk about how it all worked out.
I know how you are feeling, I think we all do, but I'd much rather watch it with the people who understand all of the crazy emotions I'm feeling than do it alone later when everyone else has worked through it together.
Come, live it with us, friend. It's an important emotional moment in the story we've experienced together for seven years. We want you to experience and share it with us... because we are, indeed, a family. We want to be there for you!
Either way, I look forward to seeing you around here after the finale.

You're strong, Inside Straight. You'll hold out. There are some Shanes around these parts, I fear, who even right now, at this moment, are busily hunting down spoilers.
I believe in you, I.S. You trust us. You... trust us... And I still trust you.

I watched 7x01 The Coefficient of Drag a little while ago, F*ckernando. It's amazing to see all of the season-long arcs being established and the seeds being sown (Ronnie/Vic, with Ronnie capping Zadofian; Mara confronting Corrine about her ex-husband, Corrine immediately being in denial about what Vic is capable of, Mara trying to tell her the truth... wow!).

allie You are a Shield kindred spirit, cuffs. If watch, I might need a grief counselor, after I pick my jaw up off the floor. But if I don't, would it be too much to ask everyone on TSR to refrain from talking about the Finale until some time next year?
