Loved the Dutch/Danny scene. Very sweet.
Hiatt's exit was somewhat boring. I would have settled for something more exciting, but was it just me or did anyone else want to throw a beating to him and to Julien for busting Vic's CI? Annoying. The writers should have never put Julien on the ST but now that Hiatt is gone and Vic will be back in charge, who knows what will happen.

I didn't like the episode... I had about 20 bucks riding on this conclusion from you, E! As I said, some of you won't like it. That was my initial reaction last night. Just a thought re: Why Vic walked out: He couldn't use his family to keep his job. He wanted to earn it by making a difference. Or in this case, by securing real leverage against the people who wanted him gone. This goes way up the chain, Aceveda and others kept saying to Vic. Well, Vic figured out that Cruz Pezuela was that person "way up the chain" and he found the files he needed to ensure that the review board wouldn't kick him out. I guess Cruz has more up his sleeve than we realized. Cruz really wanted Mackey out. It'll be interesting to see what dirt this ultimate bad guy has on Mackey next year. And I'm sure we haven't seen the end of the file that Shane prepared a few weeks back.

I honestly don't see the problem.
Posts from the 'Snitches Board' discussion of the episode have as much relevance to the purpose of this thread as the posts from people who have just seen the episode.
Not allowing those who watched the finale a month ago to restate their feelings about the episode in this thread would divide and fragment the community, which isn't exactly conducive to discussion.

Wow...brutal remarks. I liked the eppy...gave it a B. Yeah, it wasn't a "slam bang" finale, but I thought the episode was well written and did a good job of keeping the tension and following all of the storylines. I found it interesting that Dutch had a shot at Tina if he would have just pulled the trigger...I thought the interaction between Tina and Danny humanized Tina a bit.
My only complaint is something that someone else mentioned and that is that it appears Vic is one extrememly lucky guy. This guy he pulls over just happens to have all of the blackmail material in one place...convenient. There were a few of those moments this year that seemed forced. Also...was it just me or were Billings and Hiatt's exits seemingly very abrupt and weird? And, I am somewhat confused that Lem's death was hardly mentioned after episode 5....I guess I expected more "fallout" over Lem's death.
However, I thought it was a good episode (not a great finale) and another great Season. Seriously, the Shield on a bad day is better than anything else on TV on a great day.

Great episode.
No huge plot twists and turns but left me salivating for the final season.
- Tina wanting Dutch now. Danny having Dutch now. - Vic having all that blackmail and teaming up with Aceveda - Shane being the Armenians bitch with Vic, Ronnie and all the families in the crosshairs - Evil devloper should make for the big showdown - oh and Vic looking to crush Shane
The plot lines didn't rap up, but I like that. They cut out the weak link of the show (Hiatt) and the comedic relief (Billings). Next season is going to be tight. Can't wait.

I don't know what to think.
I,like I think alot of others was expecting something big to happen. Something to remind you that this was a season finale and it fell short.
It's kind of ironic that on the day of the appeal for Vic,Claudette finally gets that Hiatt was not the guy,but there should have been more to him leaving.
I called the Dutch/Danny "hook up" after their 1st scene together,it made vegaslily sick,but I was right(hehe)
I wanted to see something, anything involving Vic at least looking for Shane at some point once he found out Shane was involved.
The end was an end & nothing more. It didn't have that "OH MY" feeling to it to lead you into the final season, whenever that shows up

My only complaint is no music montage at the end...
I've come to expect these at the end of every season.

I honestly liked this episode a lot but like everybody was expecting a bigger more exploslive finale. But tbh people are little let down because they were expecting something unexpected and shocking just like last season(which was really season 5) Obviously the writers we're setting up for the 'killer' final season which I know will be great, but I do think there should have been some sort of conclusion to mark the end of this season. Try not to be too let down folks, there's an ending to all this and we sure as hell know its gonna be great. Im surprised nobody mentioned Vic beating up the guys in the car while hanging onto the door. CLASSIC lol Also the moment he walked away from the hearing was pretty damn good too

Some comments on other peoples' comments, and some thoughts of my own:
I have no problem with people copying and pasting from the Snitches board. Since I almost never visit that board, I would otherwise have missed Cletus's and electroshockblues's thoughts on the episode, since they can't be expected to write whole new posts just to avoid copying and pasting from the Snitches board.
Speaking of electroshockblues, there was a bit in that post where he expressed regret that the Vic/Aceveda partnership had not taken on a new flavor from that at the end of Season 1 --specifically, that Vic did not come out of the exchange with Aceveda completely under his thumb. Except, though neither man has acknowledged it (yet), it is kind of like that. Vic knows that Aceveda ordered the hit on Juan in prison. And, he knows why. And while I applaud his more or less gentlemanlike behavior in terms of not digging at Aceveda about the rape or even mentioning the picture more than he had to, I can't believe that he would just let all of the evidence go without keeping something back which would prove Aceveda guilty of conspiracy to commit murder. As someone else said, he HAS to know that he can't ever completely trust Aceveda. And now, because of Vic's handling of the picture situation, Aceveda is under a HUGE debt of obligation to him. I don't know what probably makes him sicker about that --owing so much to the mercy of Vic, of all people, or not having the power to discharge his obligation right away. But be sure that the deal between those two is not over; it remains to be seen, though, whether Aceveda repays Vic for the pictures as soon as he can, of his own volition, or if Vic has to prompt him about it first.
I think a lot of this season can be called "Back to One" --or, "Back to Four", in the case of Shane. It could be called disappointingly repetitive, or it could be the writers' deliberate, and very depressing, statement about futility, or Fate, or hubris, or whatever it is that keeps the characters in this show --Vic, Shane, Aceveda, Dutch, Lem, the bangers, Connie, Gilroy, Mara, you name it-- doing the same greedy, dumb, mean, sneaky, destructive and/or self-destructive kinds of things, over and over and over again.
I love how Dutch just cast Tina away. And whether he was selling her the idea that he really didn't care about it any more, or whether he was/is truly over the whole silly fantasy, didn't matter for that scene. Between Dutch and Hiatt's treatment of her, Tina really felt her own insignificance for probably the first time in her life.
I knew Hiatt was probably out by the end of this season just because he was always listed in the opening credits as a "guest star" instead of a regular cast member. But the way he went did feel like a Gong Show-type hook suddenly appearing from the wings and whisking him off stage. Not the writers' best work, IMO.
And the season ender did not feel like a season ender to me, either. But I think that's because there were SO many plots left open for next season --which I had been kind of curious about, as I usually am at the end of Shield seasons, thinking: "How on earth are they going to forge a whole new season out of the ashes of this one? The whole place is going to Hell or coming to a head or whatever; surely everything will smash by the end of this season, and then where do we go from there?" Well, we have a bunch of interesting places to go now, and that's not including whatever new fun they've cooked up for Season 7. Which, by the way --doesn't it feel like Season 5A should have been its own season, culminating with Lem's death, while Season 6/5B is obviously going to flow right into the final season as though they were really two halves of the same unit?

This was, in my opinion, the worst season finale so far.
1 - Hiatt went from basically following Vic's lead to doing everything he could to go against what Vic would do in a matter of a couple of episodes...all over a comment from Shane? I just don't buy it...he started out looking like a bright guy, then instantly turned into an idiot. This character really should have never even been written into the storyline. The bit with Claudette scolding him about Tina was a joke too...she looked the other way the whole time Dutch chased her around, yet threw it in Hiatt's face...
2 - What happened with Hernan? No mention of him at all. I've thought that this whole season, it was a bit of a joke how often that they said his name IN PUBLIC. They were about as carefull with his cover as Cheney & Rove were with Plame's...
3 - Vic walking away from the review board made no sense. What I got from it was that he had decided to use his kids' autism as a bargaining chip, then changed his mind when they showed up. It just seemed very out of character for him to just walk away without saying anything at that point...
4 - There is absolutely no way that Vic wouldn't be after Shane with a vengeance immediately after discovering that he had abducted Corrine & Cassidy. Especially after getting the 2 calls from Shane earlier. Vic should have at least called him right then.
5 - Dutch didn't even ask Tina about the text message. After the apology went so well, I expected him to bring up the text message so that he could confirm that Billings was behind the whole thing, instead he just let it go...not what I would expect from Dutch...
Overall, this episode just did not thrill me at all. If it were a regular episode rather than a finale, I might have given it a C or even a low B....being a season finale though, I gave it a D...
Overall this season ranks pretty low for me in comparison with past seasons...hopefully next season is better...

I'm very unhappy with this season. It seems without Scott Brazil and Glen Mazzara, the whole thing has gone to shit. I still love the show and everyone involved, I'm just really disappointed. And I never said the people who watched it ages ago can't post in this thread... I'd just rather not see a bunch of posts start out with "As I said in the Snitches board...." It's irritating and I'm in a pissy mood. No one is gonna get banned or deleted or whatnot for it..... I mean, go ahead and repost what was posted there, just don't tell us that you've done that.

Vladinator, I'm not ignoring the rest of your post, only responding to one little part of it. 3 - Vic walking away from the review board made no sense. What I got from it was that he had decided to use his kids' autism as a bargaining chip, then changed his mind when they showed up. It just seemed very out of character for him to just walk away without saying anything at that point... I got the impression that Corrine and the kids surprised Vic at the Review Board. I don't think he engineered things for them to be there. He seemed geniunely shocked to see Corrine show up with them in tow. Walking away from the Review Board? That's Vic showing his balls the size of Mount Rushmore. Maybe he'll put his career in the hands of someone else..but that's only if he's out of options. And he thought he had one more play. Vic's not the type to beg (making his appeal to Rawling in S4 I want it all the more jarring--has he ever been more honest?)...he's the kind of guy who will do what needs to be done and if you can't appreciate that, he'll find someone else that will. I was saying WTF are you doing, Vic?, but I think he knew exactly where he was going.

^ Exactly, IS.
Vic never liked the taste of the "Appeal to the Board member with the autistic grandkid" idea, anyway --hell, even Aceveda cringed as he suggested it. I guess looking his kids in the face as he was preparing to use them for pity points to save his job was too much for him. Especially when he had a good notion that there was something else he could try that was much more his style --like diving into a moving vehicle and beating the driver into submission at 30 or 40 mph, and then taking the car and its stash of high-octane goodies in the trunk.

My only complaint is no music montage at the end... I've come to expect these at the end of every season. I SERIOUSLY had to log on to this forum when the episode ended to see if I had got confused and there really was an 11th episode to this season... Like I said earlier, when the episode ended I felt like I had just watched a slightly above average mid-season episode.

Right now I would give this ep a D+. I can't watch it again yet because I've been too busy to pay my cable bill and they turned it off today. D'oh! At least the ep is there on the DVR. Damn thing won't even come on to play the shit I've recorded on it.... stingy bastard cable co. Maybe my opinion will improve on 2nd viewing? I dunno. I haven't even read any of your posts today; only scanned to see if ESB is pissed at me for being such a whiney poohead. I'm feeling blue about other things and it must have affected my S6 Viewing Pleasure. The season wasn't a complete disaster..... having Vic and Aceveda on the same side gives me hope for S7. And I do understand why Vic walked out of the review board meeting.... glad he did, too, because now he has a trunkload of goodies to use against whomever he pleases.

I gave it a B, not as good as last seasons finale, but then how could it be unless someone else bit the dust. It was kind of odd not to see Vic rub that picture in Acevada's face and really make him squirm, but at this point I think he is just concentrating on stopping the review board from kicking him off the force. And leaving the review board before they got started helped that. Maybe now it will never be done. Danny and Dutch...that was different, but hey, they deserve it. Forget Billings, he'll never win his case. Ronnie looked, at one point, like he was getting fed up with everything. Kind of a low key ending, which hopefully means the next season everything is going to hit the fan. From Kurts my space blog it sounds like they really start out full bore from the first episode on. Cant wait.

When I saw that steely look of resolve on his face just before he walked out I knew he definitely had something on his mind which would make a lot bigger difference than using his family would. And beating the crap out of a guy while hanging in a car window at 35-45 mph is pretty awesome too, and he got rewarded big time for it.

^^ Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise. Vic hanging out of the car will go down as a Mackey Hall of Fame moment.
No one has mentioned the Miracle Joe character. Somehow, it worked. Contrary to "The New Guy," introducing this character that I don't recall seeing didn't bother me. Maybe it was the reverence everyone in the Barn had for this guy. I thought it was a very touching storyline, and the Nephew who delivered the monologue at the end about Joe's life ...he was great. Danny and Dutch weren't the only ones misting up.
By the way, kudos to the person who pointed out Kenny Johnson's wife. Maybe that was on the Snitches thread, which I'm finally allowing myself to read.
That sure looked like the same bar where Aceveda met his escort Sara.
