From the FX website: "In his rush to avenge Lem's murder, Vic discovers he may have killed the wrong man. Shane confesses the truth to Mara to save his strained relationship. Using unconventional methods, Dutch makes headway in the serial rapist case. Claudette and Aceveda go head to head when his ambition collides with her professionalism." From TVGuide.com: "Shane's wife discovers his affair with Tilli, while Vic gets closer to the truth about Lem's murder. Elsewhere, Julien joins the Strike Team---now led by Kevin Hiatt (Alex O'Loughlin)---as Claudette assigns it the San Marcos murders; the father of a teen runaway offers to help Dutch and Billings hunt for the child rapist they're after; and a disgraced ex-cop (Carl Weathers) asks Vic for a favor." From SpoilerFix.com: "A bunch of dead people with false documents are found, possibly as a result of a beef between Mexicans and Salvadorans. Some ex-cops clean out a building filled with a Jamaican dope operation. Young runaway girls are kidnapped and raped, and cops from the Barn investigate." "Haunts" was written by Glen Mazzarra and Chick Eglee, and directed by Michael Chiklis. A-. Glen and Chuck Eglee redeemed the show from last week's insanity! I didn't care for the Jamaican drug den bust storyline...... That white guy pissed me the hell off.

I thought this was a tremendous episode. I like Hiatt so far. He seems to be respecting Vic, maybe respecting Vic more than he respects Claudette. It was also good to see Billings showing that he's not just a complete fool. Good notice on the rapist. And the last scene with Shane. Woah.

I'll elaborate more, but for now I'll say it was awesome. I knew Shane had to eventually tell someone, u can't keep something that hurtful bottled up for that long.

brilliant ep, my fave of this new season so far.
the go home rapist storyline was fantastic, incredibly disturbing and a great way to catch the guy. i thought that when the suspect mentioned that he'd lost a daughter dutch wud pick up on it, to my surprise tho billings did. also loved billings screaming at the guy at the end through the cage, a good serious moment for the otherwise comedic character.
dug seeing joe again, carl weathers is always the man... the partner he had with him scared the crap outta me though, one sadistic dude (one cud say his moral compass is a bit... missing).
and shane- goddamn it, he's a great character but he has to get caught. and mara better not help him cover it up, vicll have to bury two bodies.
and lastly- ronnie losing the beard, its a sad day for gardocki fans. good quip by shane tho on the matter. ill prbbly think of something else about the episode later, but i loved it, way better than anything this season so far

One of the best episodes this season, Ronnie does look weird without the beard, but not as bad as it looked with the mustache ahahah. That Shane scene was great. How about the line where Shane says " ever think of just coming clean, about everything?" Shane looked like shit, I'm sure a lot of the fans sadistically enjoyed that. How bout the drug use (sniffing oxies)? Someone said they hoped Shane got hooked on some drugs this season. Maybe they got there wish....

Still deciding on a grade, but I thought the ep was uneventfull and boring. The story went nowhere, and the joe clark side story was pointless. I am liking Hiatt a little, he understands the way to respect Vic. At this time I am thinking D, but I will rewatch later and grade later.

Pointless? It showed Vic doesn't have the stomach to be dirty anymore. And uneventful? Shane telling Mara about Lem was anything but uneventful. We must remember Mara's cootch played a major role in breaking up the strike team in season 3, and this is when she didn't know for sure about any misdeeds.

I'd give this episode a B.
I am liking Hiatt a little more but I still think he's a little dull and he still needs to open his eyes.
Walton batted this one out of the park and I think Shane deserved worse than what he got. But I can wait for that...anyway, Mara has the tendency to be too blind to Shane's ways. If she actually believes that Shane won't cheat on her again, she's living a lie. Their marriage is like a warped version of Vic's marriage. Mara is amazingly insecure and let's not forget what Vic said about her at the end on On Tilt...
Is it just me or is this Cruz guy a little more evil than he lets on? These Sar Marcos murders are going to get messy and I think the show will end with The Barn shutting down. It would only be fitting. As for the Go Home raptist...it was short, bitter and showed that Billings wasn't a complete tool after all. I'm not even going into the Jamacain bust. Let's just say this episode had two things I didn't need to see.
It if weren't for the final scene, it would have gotten a lower grade. Walton is acting the hell out of this season.

complete return to form.
notice how pretty much nothing from the last episode was referenced. so we can all pretend that disaster never happened last week, yes? just pretend they introduced the new guy and rape victims in ep.3.
also, walton goggins better have an amazing career ahead of him after this show is over with.

A, this was probably the best episode of the season so far on first watch. I will check it out again later, but for now I stick with my A...

...the joe clark side story was pointless.... Au contrare, mon frere! The Joe Clark storyline showed that Vic needs to stay on as a detective with the LAPD. He couldn't stomach living paycheck to paycheck doing crap vigilante work like Carl Weathers was doing. Vic Mackey can still be brutal as a cop, but he needs the badge. It shows that Vic may know that he's a dirty cop but as Hiatt said last week, he has a very high arrest rate. He's very effective at getting the job, and he doesn't want to lose that badge. He is more vulnerable to that loss than we realize.

I enjoyed the episode alot. I agree with BenYankee all the way about the Joe Clark story. While it wasn't pertinent to the overall episode storyline, it was important into the character of Vic and how desperate he'll be to keep the badge after his 15 arrives. Hiatt isn't bad, but I haven't seen enough of him yet to really judge him. He needs to be put in a situation with more on the line than just Vic making him look bad if he "runs against traffic." He definitely understands he needs Vic to get situated and from what we know so far, he respects Vic, but not enough storyline has developed yet between the two of them. Good to see the Fatherly side of Billings and see him be serious for a change. It's not something I'd want to see alot out of Billings, because I think his comedic relief is great, but it added another layer to his character. I like that they finally talked to Hernonn and introduced his character in person at the end of this episode. Lastly, Walton continues to shine. His confession was unbelievable. Overall, I enjoyed this episode a whole lot more than last week.

okay, who out there didn't know the second that dude walked into The Barn he was the Go Home rapist - that story was sort of a waste except for proving Billings is a better detective than anyone thought - I'm in the middle on the Joe Clark story - great to see him back and I do see the point of the story in that it removes an 'after the ST' option for Vic thus reinforcing his desire and need and desperation to stay employed - Carl Weathers looks like he's lost some serious weight though - I'm actually liking Hiatt more and more - we know there's more to his story so it's sort of cool watching him evolve - be interesting to see how he fits in when Vic finds out the truth about Shane - which brings me to Mara - I know I'm in the minority but I've always had a soft spot for her - the problem Mara is facing is that she now knows a little too much and , if Vic wants to protect the ST and Shane, you have to wonder if Mara's days are numbered - of course I've been saying this from her first appearance, ha ha - and she did steal that $8K (and where's her evil mom?) - back to form after last week's travesty - a solid B+ from me - and I think Walton's scene at the end was probably the best single piece of acting in the series so far over the six seasons - compare his scene with Vic's from last week and, I'm sorry Chiklis fans, it's no contest - the mistress bar is set higher indeed

It took no time for our group watching to figure that out. The story was good, not the greatest the show has ever seen but a nice addition. It's always good to see Apollo (just can't help but call him that) but that story bit it. I see what it did to show a part of Vic's character but the whole thing was way too long for me. Shane's downfall has taken on a whole new turn and it's gonna get good. Walton's acting praise he's getting on here is VERY well deserved. I gave this one a strong B.

I gave it an A but I give all episodes an A because this is the best show TV has to offer(and I'm a Shield junkie) Walton knocked it out of the park, he has a promising career in the movies. He is almost making me feel sorry for Shane(almost, not quite) after all I want him to suffer for killing Lem. Julien on the ST is a joke, Wyms has her head up her ass thinking he would be a good addition, his lack of experience and yes my cop friend says you have to be a detective to be a part of any special unit. He is so out of his element, I hope he doesn't get anyone killed. Billings figuring out the rapist was good, maybe Dutch's skills are rubbing off. I enjoy both of them. Ok I'm liking the new guy, he's treating Vic with respect and seems like a decent guy but if he screws Vic in any way he's on my shitlist. Vic and Hiatt are working well together and I think he will help Vic keep his job when all is said and done. Can't wait till next week, looks like a blow you away kind of eppie.

I loved it... I don't mind if they ocassionally have "easy" storylines (we thought the father was certainly a suspect) as long as the stories further the character development, as it did in this case.
Seeing Vic having a hard time stomaching the after-hours vigilante stuff was interesting and reinforced that he really really needs the job and badge...he has a hard time being "dirty" outside of the job. Shane's emotial breakdown was some great acting (and good job from the makeup folks too) and Billing's showing some flash of great detective work was refreshing, as well.
Overall, a very strong A. I was sad when this eppy was over.

I gave this episode a B
The good
I loved that dutch didn't pick up on the father being the rapist.
Cliffton Collins as the undercover salva.(he is a great actor)
"Is sombody gonna make it look good"
Shane(This is walton's emmy year)
The not bad but not that good
Joe(loved the first story line with joe, but too much stuff going on the show for this I think.
The end of the rapist. (just blah)

Ah, it's good to be voting an "A" again! And, yes, if Walt doesn't get nominated for an Emmy--we know FOR SURE the entire voting system is corrupt.
I've been thinking, seriously, that we ought to take up a collection and buy an ad in whatever mag is the leading television-related Hollywood rag to call attention to his work this year. It might not make a difference, but will demonstrate our support *and* undeniably point out the bias in the Emmy process.
