I graduated from a small private college here in MN last spring. Shortly after Dtpollitt turned me onto the show, I in turn got one of my best friends hooked on it. He was also a theatre major, and was talking with an adjuct professor in the department about his new favorite show The Shield (what else would it be?). Turns out that our professor DATED SHAWN in college, and if memory serves me correctly, was in a play he wrote.
The best part of this story is that when he told me about it, a conversation my professor and I had the year before clicked. She had told me that I reminded her of a boyfriend she had in college: Small town kid who had to work his ass off to afford a small private-type school, but in the end did well and became a television producer. SHE NEVER TOLD ME SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT RYAN!!!!!
So in short...I've got one degree of separation from the man who gave us this message board and this show that we could never have survived without.
Anyone got similar stories about the show?

That's really a nice story--elements of serendipity and "it's a small world." My own story is told in various locations around this site. a synopsis is at (click below) my storyA picture of me next to Shawn in a group photo with the writers is at (click here ---> pic with writers. The pic isn't the best quality. I didn't post it again here in an effort to spare those who have already seen it from having to see me again!!

I told my professor she should call Shawn up and be all
"Hey Shawn...this is Natalya...how's it going? I know we haven't talked since college, but I know this kid...PERFECT addition for the Strike Team. He's smart, funny, and he could kick a little ass too. Think about it, OK?"
