I was just re-watching the S6 finale and was wondering something:
Any of you guys think Claudette was over the top after they found out about Miracle Joe? She was pretty pissed and said something like 'makes you wonder what the hell you're sticking around here for'.

I wonder what's up with her having such a grudge against Vic.
I say this not as a rapid Vic Mackey fan who tries to take up for everything he does, I say this as someone who wonders exactly why Claudette wouldn't want someone like Vic around the Barn. She has every right to have some kind of hostilty towards him on a professional level, but even though he solved the San Marcos murders and saved the Barn, and even though Vic warned her about Cruz's possible involvement in the case and how he could dig into it.... Even though he cleaned up Hiatt's mess after he screwed up in the finale (and Hiatt proving himself as "unworthy" of being Vic's replacement), she still wanted nothing to do with him, and it seemed like she just couldn't wait to kick him right out the door. This, even after she told Hiatt himself that she wanted someone with a "little Vic."
Even as captain of the Barn, her word alone wouldn't have been enough to save Vic's job, but it all just seemed a little unprofessional of her, and it's something that just annoyed me about her character.

If nothing else, Claudette is a mixture of principles and long memory. He's burned her a few times in the past (once seems to be enough). Vic seems to get by via the tendency of those in power abandoning their principles for survival - something Claudette hasn't done. If Vic stays, it'll be because Claudette gives up, which is something else she hasn't done... yet......

I've always felt that the "will he or won't he" aspect of Vic keeping his job was handled poorly. I mean, wasn't he framed by a top-level lieutenant for murder? Hello? Multi-million dollar lawsuit right there. That, on top of Vic saving the barn, solving San Marcos, and having an effective jacket despite a few spots, is more than enough reason for him NOT to lose his job.

The order to get rid of Vic was not coming from Claudette, Aceveda, or IAD. It was coming directly from the chief's office. Vic's tendency for accusations of brutality and corruption that never seem to stick had convinced the brass that even with his arrest record he was too much of a liability to be worth it. Vic would never sue the department either. 1: Because its just not his style. 2: He would lose any juice he had. The other officers would never respect him again and there would be no chance of saving his job. For Vic, being a cop isn't about the paycheck, he lives for the rush he gets whenever he brings in a bad guy and the respect he gets for being the street level go to guy.

She was happy doing her job and was very good at it, she finally reached her limits and decided she wanted career advancement in order to keep herself sane and to help save the Barn in her eyes...
She has always stated her opinions about Vic, every season she says how he has "questionable ethics" but unlike Assinvader she isn't afraid to get rid of him for the good of the department.
