Ah, nice to see Johnson going back to his TV roots rather than directing mediocre features. He's also returning to The Wire for its final season as a director and an actor. I've always considered him something of the unsung hero of the show since, as the director of the pilot, he had as much to do with the initial casting as Ryan or Brazil.

I wonder how that would be directing and acting in the scenes. How does that work?

Get everyone prepped, discuss it, shoot a take - review - do another take with changes. ...That is, I think so.

It's just weird that the director is not behind the camera or whatever when the scene is being shot and it's even weirder that the director is actually in the scene while the director's chair is empty. I'm sure there's more than one person invovled when directing. It's just cool that he could do both at the same time. Can't wait and see the episode, to see how it flows.

Chiklis directed 'Slipknot' from Season 3 (the lynching of the graffiti artist) and another from Season 4.
ETA: Nope, no Season 4 episode.

I can't remember which one though.

Well, the director really doesn't have anything to do when the camera is rolling, unlike any of the more technical positions. Most all a director's work occurs when filming is stopped, so the combination is a lot more work, but they don't really interfere with each other. Now, if someone is doubling up at camera operator and director, that would be quite a feat, especially with the way The Shield films

I have a question ~ is it just me or are the seasons getting shorter and shorter? I am royally pissed. Next week is the season finale?? ALREADY??? How many episodes will they have next season?? FIVE? Season 4 was 13 episodes, Season Five was 11 episodes, Season Six is 10 episodes. I mean my GOD! We have to wait damn near an entire YEAR for the new season to start, and then they just keep getting shorter. Does this piss anyone else off or just me?? GRRRRRRR..............! Your post doesn't belong in this thread, because this is for discussing the writers and directors of the episodes. There is no way to move posts from thread to thread, so deleting it is the only way to keep this thread on topic. If you use the "search" function, you can come up with lots of threads on the topic of how many episodes are in the seasons, including this one:
