No no no. That's not true, maybe. No one has said WHEN the next set of episodes will air. It may be sooner than January. We just don't know yet. Id put money on it that it wont be untill 2007. Even if they said sometime in 2006 im sure a month or two b4 it would be to start it would be pushed back. Season 5 is the first season in a while to actually start in January. S3 and S4 (maybe S2 i cant rember) Both had promos saying January but were movec back to march. Back to Smoked...after watching it again ive come to see that Becca is beautiful, i dont know if i didnt notcie it b4 or it just didnt register. I say beautiful because i think there is a diffrence between Hot, Beautiful, and sexy. Now Tina shes sexy, but Becca is beautiful. Also im sure this has been mentioned and i just havnt seen it but hasnt Forest W dropped some LBS. The last two thing ive seen him in where Phone Booth and Panic Room and he look noticbly(sp?) smaller, ecspecialy in the neck area. How funny did Dutch sound when he went into the bathroom with the Uni and said"Dude sweet pictures" "Don't worry, Im cool" just the tone of his voice was hilarius.

I just finished watching this ep again and I nearly fell out of my chair with laughter when I heard that! I missed the full impact of that awkwardness last week I guess...

sorry, can you run the "silly first half of season 5" thing by me...? I've thought every episode of the season so far has been great, so just wondering. Yes, E is right. I was only referring to the rumor that these first 11 episodes were reputed to be the first half of Season 5, with the second half coming in January. That's the only thing I find silly--these past 9 episodes have been primo.

5x09 Smoked is a great little episode. It has more modest aspirations than the episode immediately before it and the two episodes immediately after it. With that in mind, I give it an A.
Nostalgia is a good thing. There is some nostalgia to be had here as Vic, Shane and Ronnie, on their day off, try to outwit and outrun the returning Claudette and Dutch in their marijuana case to get the 100 grand they need to bail Lem out of jail. (Isn't 100 grand for a stash of heroin extremely high? I'm not entirely sure myself. I just wonder. I read somewhere that because he's a cop it's possible for it to be that high...?)
The double- and triple- and quadruple-crosses between Vic, David and Jon are all excellent here. Jon knows David doesn't want Jon sniffing around too much with regards to David's past but David is willing to help Jon try to nab Vic while Vic thinks he can find some kind of fairly stable ally in David against Jon. Talk about a tangled web being weaved!
The episode works because we are convinced that Jon is not only determined but now he's flat-out obsessed to nail Vic. Vic really crossed the line with Jon and his ex-wife and now, as Jon tells Vic in the break room, he now has the stomach to serve Lem up to Antwon on a silver platter. Vic's attempts to snuff this maneuver are ultimately fruitless and Lem makes a deal with the DA in 5x10 just as Vic makes a deal with Antwon in the same episode. That Antwon could be such a dominant figure behind bars never occurred to me when he was sent away at the end of Season 4, and ironically it should be Shane who pays for his crimes--many of which he committed with Antwon--not Lem, who tried to save Shane from a miserable fate by helping him. (Another irony is that while Lem implicated himself by taking Petarrio's heroin, the whole project of digging up Angie's body before the other cops did was a failure anyway and Shane ended up telling Monica the truth--at least part of it--about being blackmailed and extorted by Antwon in exchange for tips about the cops' raids against Antwon's heroin palaces.)
A fine episode and I love the silent ending with Vic and David. The relationship between these two has gone in so many directions and this last scene really plays up their long history in an excellent manner.
