not much action not much drama when you have claudette's interrogation as the best of the episode, it has failed would've liked to see more interaction b/w shane, lem & ronnie on their doubts

I give it an A. And to the poster a bit above...The episode features them blowing up a wall with C4 and you say there's not much action. CCH Pounder completely owned this episode. Also, I liked the way they're painting Ronnie as the only Strike Team Member who has his shit together because it makes so much sense. And now my rambling, schizophrenic, subject-jumping post is at its close.

what angle is vic going with with the corrine diner scene? Seemed to me Vic was falling on his sword, telling Corinne to not worry about him and just tell the truth ("let me worry about me, you worry about our three"). This makes him her knight in shining armor and she will be less likely to say anything else that might get him in trouble???

Went with a B. Ep was ok, just feels like the eps are fillers waiting for some big break with the ST vs. IAD thing. At least it looks like they will be going after Kav after Ronnie noticed the wedding ring Kav still wheres. and the whole Antwon thing next week looks promising.

Dunno--I'll have to watch it again before I give it a grade, but I'm leaning toward an A. The Dutch/Claudette, Kleavon/Fatima shit was powerful. Dutch pushed Claudette to continue, using her own words to push her ahead, then finding out it might have caused her serious injury (someone said broken neck) or death. Did you see how devastated he looked? Then hearing Kleavon say "now who's going to hell?" or something like that.
I kinda wished they had been wrong about Kleavon, but he seemed to end up with the last word. They got him, but at what price?

Yup, that guy who kept talking about someone else was Jimmy Johnson. Excellent guest casting.
I gave it an A for the Dutch/Claudette scenes and the Aceveda/Kavanaugh/Lem triangle. That was CCH Pounder's and Jay Karnes' episode and they NAILED it. I haven't seen acting that intense from Karnes since he strangled the cat. I mean, he looked devastated, utterly devestated.
Meanwhile, Kavanaugh finally managed to push David's buttons. You mention Juan, and David will go ape shit on his ass. I wonder what Antwon will give up next week.
By the way, after seeing the "previously on The Shield" bit during S. 4, every time I see Antwon, I expect him to say, "You'll be doin' time for a long time." It just stuck in my head.
I can't wait for the last four episodes of this half of the season. It's going to be a crazy ride.

Also, the look FW gave Kleavon after he said, "Who's going to hell now?" was utterly priceless. Kavanaugh was SHOCKED that anyone would say that. As these Guiness guys are now saying, "Brilliant!" Brilliant acting this week.
Vic's attempt at saving face when the other guy withdrew his transfer offer was good also.

Too weird! I don't know how much you all watch FOX SPORTS NFL Pre-Game Show, but Jimmy Johnson is on there. Terry Bradshaw is also on there and they give each other TONS of shit on the show and do skits making fun of one another. How strange was it, knowing this information, that Jimmy Johnson's character tonight was screaming "TERRY DID IT!!" Very, very funny... --Dan

I really liked the scene between Aceveda and Lem. Martinez did a great deal with what was only like five minutes of screen time. I loved when Lem started waffling, and he just exploded with that "1 year for all the shit you guys have done." Something like that always works as reality check. Like last year when Army reminded them that they actually were guilty when they were yelling at him for making them look bad.

The wait was worth it...I ingested 2 straight hours of The Shield tonight, so both "Rap Payback" and "Man Inside" have really run together in my head.
This season is INTENSE. Well, they all have been, but this is great stuff going on in the barn. Kavanaugh is one dirty son of a bitch.
Man, I didn't recognize Jimmy Johnson at all.

All you East-Coasters.... filling up the page! I'm so jealous.
***
Wedding ring payoff! Go Ronnie!
ST let Vic off the hook way too easy when they found out about Corrine. After all the shit Vic gave Shane about Mara, that would have twitched up in a hurry.
Cool bit about Dutch giving Claudette some good coaching that she just plain didn’t have the energy to execute.
The whole “…because I can do better” speech… good job! Really fine line between honesty and telling his lawyer what she wanted to hear. That’s what makes Vic such a great character.
The random Kav-Summonings…. Getting repetitive.
Solid moves for Aceveda. Finally. Politicking is his strength, and they’re letting him use it.
Dutch’s “get back in there and close him” speech – a little too “acting class scene” – again, that’s the writers. When the FX promo mentioned “season finale”… made me think. I’m gonna miss these actors SO much when the Shield is done. There are NO weak links among the lead actors in this show. Period.
And… Go, Go, CCH. ‘Nuff said. (They better give her a better doctor than Tavon.)

I gave this one a B (plus), even though my favorite TS director, Dean White, handled it... I thought the script was too predictable, too old hat. One of those filler/setting things up for the finale type eps, which are necessary. Important plot development but slow.
Imho, the saving grace was poor Claudette and the absolute highlight was Jay Karnes! The look on his face in the final scene almost brought tears to my eyes! Can you imagine how it might be if Claudette has to retire? Owie.
I think Vic is bullshitting everyone with his contrition, this I'm-not-the-different-kinda-cop-that-I-was routine. He's getting a little older, mellowing out a bit, but I don't doubt for a minute he's the same pitbull he always was. It's in there. Let Kav rip off a few more scabs and this whole thing is going to explode.
In the meantime, he's snowing his ex and his attorney... I thought Becca was going to fall on the floor with her legs up and Corrine had that stupid "Everything's gonna be ok!" grin on her face.
Speaking of explosions, the scene of blowing through the wall must be the one Dean White described in his blog. I bet there was outdoor footage as well but it ended up on the cutting room floor. That must be disappointing after such a stressful shoot. Maybe we can ask Glen about that?
Oh, and I thought the guy playing Kleavon sucked.

I wasnt too thrilled with this particular episode.
I'm not quite sure why, I'll have to watch it again, but something in the timing/pace of the episode just threw me off.

Now that I think about it, I think I'm starting to get fed up with how linear some of the storylines are getting.
Prime example: Claudette. How many bad things can possibly happen to a person? She's been constantly imperiled this season.
Another example: Tina. She's done nothing but f*ck up all season long.
Third example: Kavanaugh. Ok, I get that he's supposed to be Vic Mackey's foil, but he's starting to seem a bit unreal, they way he's putting stuff together (ST's finances, Aceveda - Antwon - Juan) over the course of just one episode.
What I'm trying to say is that I'd like a little change of pace, and I hope the last four episodes of the season mean that its time for that.

i'm not sure how you see kavanaugh's character as linear just because he knows things. it's his job to investigate, his job to know. he didn't wake up one morning and dig up all of shane's finances on the $600K house he bought and then that morning spring it on him at the barn - we're expected to assume that plenty has been going on behind the scenes. this man's job is to dig and get information as quickly as possible and use it as a wedge between individuals who would otherwise be accomplices to a crime, or at least use it to reveal things they have to hide...mho...
i love setup episodes even if they are slow. firstly, claudette's character hasn't been linear - she started out a little strong and has gradually become weaker, culminating with her glazed-eye look the entire episode last night, the bleeding, and the fall down the stairs. prior to that, she was the firey vigilante, out to do justice at whatever cost; the anti-aceveda (and strangely still against vic despite that). we've seen many sides of this character so i wouldn't classify her as linear either.
but back to the setup episode, i'm fine with sitting through those in anticipation of something "happening". we saw the hint of the strike team conjouring up a way to turn the tables on kavanaugh; we saw corrine come back into the picture between this week and last week, and we saw Vic play both his lawyer and his ex (you know he's got something up his sleeve w/ Corrine). we also saw even a little bit of ronnie-action that we rarely see - him rationalizing how they should get their own lawyers. i thought it was great; A rating here.
