This was an A+ performance by Vic all the way. Total control all the way. Love seeing Kavanaugh flip out at the end.

Wow one of the best nights for one liners. Kav sure has egg on his face. This week rocked!

An A.
Just A.
Same reason. Pure control. Pure ass-fuckery.

Wowwie! This was, in my opinion, a great ep. Grade A all the way
I’m watching and typing, so my post will be a little more disjointed than usual. But hey, I’m off work and watching TS – it don’t get better ‘dan ‘dat, y’all!
Corrine – bringing up the IA investigation at the hospital is showing that she is worried and not going to be able to resist talking to someone about this again. Maybe Dutch?
Kav got burnt on Emolia, but he really got it on the next level with the bugs in the clubhouse. I loved right before they went to the sting where everyone is out of the hotel room but him…. He couldn’t stop listening. Awesomely played. Then the bit at the end! Holy mother of pearl! FW is phenomenal.
Aceveda – was he ready to warn Vic at the clinic? Oh yes, I definitely think so. You could hear him thinking though, that he didn’t trust talking to anyone, _anywhere._ He knows his hands aren’t clean and he’s trying to figure a way to make this all right.
Vic and Danny – did he seem overly solicitous when she knocked her head on the pole? I gotta put another $20 down on him in the pool. Then him saying “should we talk?” in the bathroom…. Wooooo! I definitely think he’s her baby daddy.
Professional note – the shrink-wrapped guy – you know I would have ended up processing all that crappy plastic for prints and a year-old dead guy in saran wrap would probably be enough to make even me puke.
Tina – gods but she is dumb. I can’t stand her.
OK – hands down the best part was when Vic was walking out of the sting, patting Aceveda on the arm. Kav is looking at Aceveda like “You told him!” and Aceveda’s face is priceless, “Oh crap, Kavanaugh is going to think I told him!” Perfect. Stunning. God, Vic is smarter than all of them put together.

PS - next week's preview was Oh-my-god-good!! (no spoilers, I promise!)

God, I have to post again just to emphasize how hard Kavanaugh got fucked.
If Vic was tearing into Kav for real, he would have cracked the guy's colon like a sunflower seed.

Ooooh, big Jon's got a temper, huh? He looked so pathetic in the garage when he was left alone, feeling totally humiliated. He isn't gonna forget that and the rage he showed is gonna make him all the more determined. But there has to be a little seed of self-doubt now, don't you think? Wondering if he's met his match.

He isn't gonna forget that and the rage he showed is gonna make him all the more determined. But there has to be a little seed of self-doubt now, don't you think? Wondering if he's met his match. Kavanaugh really showed his true colors in this episode. I don't know if there has been a more "morally sound" character (in one's own eye) ever on The Shield. Think about it...Kavanaugh, roughly 1/2 of the way through the entire season has yet to be shown in a light other than him tensely working on the Strike Team. From minute one to present, he has only left his whorish hotel room to visit Corrine two or three times and once stop in the barn. Nothing else. Kavanaugh truly believes what he has is the making of a case that will finally bring the Strike Team down. He has no friends, outside connections, even relationships that are of value to him; even he told Aceveda how much he has a sick feeling inside about him. Tonight, after he foiled the Strike Team's attempt to get in bed with the Russians, his rage and fury displayed how much he is seething and hating the fact that he cannot wrap the Strike Team around his finger quite yet. This is a bit jumbled but I'll sleep on it and get back to ya all. I am truly loving and thoroughly enjoying Kavanaugh and how his pent up fury and rage is going to bite back at the Strike Team. What a climatic finish it is going to be. --Dan

Yep, yep, yep. This was pure Shield action to me. I was buying it, though in the back of my mind I was wondering when the last time Ronnie swept the clubhouse. I was getting this horrible sinking feeling as the plan with the Russians kept getting deeper--the ruse had me up until Vic fired the first shot.
I loved seeing Mr. Golden Gloves throw that table across the room, laptop and all. Yes, Forest Whitaker is doing the job. And that preview for next week...WOW, the gloves have completely come off. (Now who's in 2% zone?)
Terrific episode, except I think Vic came off as a little too smug when he laid his hand down in the garage. His lines seemed almost too practiced, too staged (By Vic, not Chiklis). Great episode nonetheless!

Yeah, Vic's delivery when the bust went South stuck out as staged.
But Kavanaugh's colon still popped like a water baloon. That's the most important thing.

Finally--!!!
A+ episode -- all the characters in play, swinging for the fences. And who doesn't love watching the Strike Team load guns??? Julien even got a few lines! "The Dad doesn't know..." -- wow, talk about suspense.
No stalling, no weak bullshit. Tense to the end, and getting to the good stuff fast.
Extra credit for some Forrest "Ghost Dog" action!
"Dutch-man’s got plan!"
Amen.

The ST definitely threw a pie into Kavanaugh's face, but I fear that's the only one in the oven for them. Kavanaugh will come back, and he will bring a harder fight this round. This episode, though it was great, might just end up as proof that Kavanaugh underestimated Vic the first time around.

Liked this episode very much. A definite A+. What I like about the episode was how you knew the strike team were planning a sting operation yet as someone earlier above me said it keeps you second guessing such as how when Vic "shot" the other man.
In my opinion the episode is titled trophy as we see Vic and Kavanaugh after a 'trophy'. Vic's trophy represents him trying to get himself and his strike team off the hook. Kavanaugh's is the opposite in which it shows his absolute goal is too net the strike team as this would be his own little trophy as Kavanaugh's character seems to be hell bent on achieving the task at hand once it is given to him. Not to mention the little bug that was located in the trophy the whole time (obviously).
Best line: "We'll beat just IAD again next year". Kavanaugh playing the tape over and over again was a great way in showing the rage and paranoia bulding up in him. Kavanaugh thought he was in control all along when it was in fact Vic the whole time and Vic did it all legally.
Was it just me or was I the only one that was laughing out loud when Kavanaugh went ape mad? Couldn't seem to stop laughing over it. Also found it funny with the scene of Julian in the ditch.
All in all great episode and can't wait until next seeing what cards Kavanaugh will play next. I predict that he will arrest Lem as a final trump card should he be able to outsmarted by Vic.

I have to agree with this! The worst thing they've made us look at since Claudette in the shower (Sorry CCH!) Remember Danny commenting to the black girl involved in the baby snatching that she didn't expect to have a baby? I don't get it. Why are strong, competent women still getting knocked up by surprise when we know what causes babies and can prevent them? Come on, show some responsibility for your own bodily functions already. This was a bad career move for Danny. I don't see how any cop, male or female, can be a truly good single parent.

Great episode, definately an A. It was incredible how Vic was able to trump most of Kav's hands, which led to the major meltdown. Emolia- Now doesn't want to help IAD because she cares about Vic. Aceveda- Vic has played this perfectly and the look on Aceveda's face was hilarious when he realized a Kav storm could be turned his way. "Councilman" (with the pat on the arm- . The bugs- They have been rendered useless on both Lem and probably anywhere else where IAD could get a legal tap. Evidence of the ST working with the Russians- Seeing Billings pile on IAD in that scene made it even more great as the inept captain looks like he should be the cheif of police compared to Kav. Vic has struck hard, but we all know that Kav is coming back. He will probably arrest Lem and go after Corrine. The question is, will he be too reckless as he tries to hit back?

The sting part was too staged, I was able to tell from the start that something was going on. They wouldn't just have Ronnie stop checking for bugs. But it was a good episode.
And I'd rather see Danny's pregnant stomach anyday over having to see another scene with stupid little girl cop Tina screwing something up, or stupid cop wife Corrine doing it again (oh wait, that's next week) or having Shane's dumb girl come back for more.
All I have to say is Thank God for Claudette!!!! She hasn't been anyone's mistress & is actually an intelligent female character. If it wasn't for her, I'd have to boycott the show (maybe for week).
I like Aceveda just being stuck in the middle, we don't know what he's thinking or planning to do, but just by the facial expressions we can see he's shitting on himself.

What I think has already been said.
I propose this:
I think the smartest thing Vic did all episode was getting Billings on his side. Billings may have come across as a corporate yes-man, but he is still the captain. He's a good ally for Vic at this stage in the game.

Well, almost everything I wanted to write has already been covered... maybe there'll be other things popping up once I rewatched the episode. Yeah, I could tell that the sting part wasn't a surprise, but the way it was executed... BRILLIANT!!! And I'm not just talking about a brilliant Vic here. Hell, THAT'S the Shield I want to see. I had to hit the Pause button because I cheered and laughed so hard, on the edge of my seat. Making even Billings look more competent than Kavanaugh almost topped off Vic patting Aceveda on the shoulder. It almost made me scream for mercy. And if it took just one more scene to stand up and applaud for Forest Whittaker... there it was. Motel room thrashing was the last thing I would have expected from Kavanaugh judging from the season premiere. Christ, Kavanaugh will have to cross a lot of lines himself if he wants to turn this around. I bet the first thing he'll do is to arrest Lem. As much of a triumph for Vic and his boys this episode was, it's clear that Kav isn't defeated yet. I really don't want to write a novel this time, because I just watched the episode and I'm still shaken... by sheer excitement. You know what? The old feeling is back... waiting for the next episode is hell! And that's the way it should be. Sorry Teri, I have to borrow this (you don't seem to use it anymore).... Loved.It. A+. Amen.
