I want to start this and get some thoughts. I have been watching the whole series on DVD, back to the beginning, amazing how many characters have come and gone. I would like to know your thoughts on ones who came and faded out; like them, hate them, should have stayed around, should they be brought back? I can mention a few, but for now, my two top characters who faded out were Lanie Kellis the civillian auditor, and Tavon. He was just getting started and the storylines with him could have been endless excitement, and he was a good actor too. Lets hear 'em.

Ronnie sure as hell has not developed. Yeah he has gotten more airtime this last season, but what do we really know about him? He is the solid rock of the team, well educated, the tech guru. But what about his family? He is not married, girlfriend? Does he even go on dates? He is level headed, but We really know nothing about him.

I'm going to have to second Ronnie. He's been a main character (more or less because of his role on the Strike Team) who has let to have a story line. Hell, Julian - a Rookie and then a TO - has had more screen time and character development then Ronnie. And Julian bores the hell out of me.
R.I.P Connie too. She was an interesting character... and then Emolia sort of replaced her (and we all know what happened with that)
I doubt anyone is going to miss the civillian auditor. She was annoying, and was given too much power in the Barn.
Tavon was interesting but it did feel like he was always going to be an outsider. I'm curious if they will bring him back, even just for Lem's funeral. I liked it when he talked to the auditor about Mackey commiting a crime - and she was all ears until he said something to the effect of Vic parking more than six inches from the curb, hah.

I always like Taylor, I wished they could have worked him in a little bit during S5 atleast 1 episode maybe 2.
And Joe Clark, I think another day of him and Vic together would be good.
And Van Bro(the guy who paints in the wheel chair) We havnt seen him since the beginning of season 3. I like the scence he did with Vic and the other guys.

Van Bro was great. A good piece of intel from him here and there, and at least 5 laughs per scene!
Tavon. What a dilema. I really really liked that guy, and I think he could've been developed into a pivotal character in the show, but his time was cut short. I think he's probably the biggest "what if" the show has ever had. I've seen SO many references to this topic throughout this forum that it's crazy. All in all, he was a smooth talking good looking badass black man. What kick-ass anti-gang task-force wouldn't LOVE to get their hands on a Tavon?

I have to agree with Ronnie and Tavon, both characters that should have had more focus. All we know about Ronnie is that he likes Journey(lol). However, he has had more "off-air" development than anything. What i mean is, he always made a lot of decisions that kind of told us who he was. for instance, he was down 100% for the money train, and was probably the most important part of planning it. Remember right after he got his facial surgery, he checked the place daily for changes? got a hold of a garbage truck and learned how to drive it? Also, he made the decision with Lem not to let vic use the cash for his kids. He can crack safes, knows computers inside out, always thinks of both sides of the situation (like lem talking about money train to becca). if you ask me, he has developed away from the viewer- he's smart, cunning, clever, and pretty damn funny too.

Other characters who came and went quick, Emma the domestic abuse shelter chick, she was pretty hot, the canine cop chick, a little hotter, kav's ex, real hot! but she may be back. I don't know, there were so many, and I disagree with the Ronnie thing, he was not a full time cast member until this year, and he is always around even when he's not. Granted, he has never been lead on a storyline, but he's there. As for who Ronnie is, shit, we knew even less about Lem, no family, friends, only had one piece, Tigre, so much for the West Side Story thing.

OOOoooooOo!!! I second that... Trish was a great personality to have around the Barn. Loved the tension in the Clubhouse... and the streaking scene is eternally burned into my mind; for better and worse.

my $0.02 - ronnie works better in the role he's in. i think it would be bad for the show if they spent a whole storyline on Ronnie - as much as i'd like to know more about him, what makes him so intriguing is the small bits here and there and how pivotal he is to the strike team without needing all the drama major characters usually need to develop. He's just always been "there", and not many shows pull that off like TS has pulled off w/ ronnie. i think tavon was great but if you think about how they used his character, it was yet another way for us to dislike vic and really dislike shane. shane showed his true colors, his insecurity and sensitivity when tavon tried to step into his pissing ground. tavon was the new shane in a way, could have been the #2, etc., the way shane saw it, so shane (& mara) did something stupid. shane's balance of work & life w/ mara was being threatened, and we saw how he was a hothead and would do anything to protect his ass, and we also saw how vic helped him out of that sitaution when he made lem go into the hospital room and make up a story about what really happened. that was just how tavon's character was used, despite how we all wanted more. to me, it was genius, becuase through tavon's character and that whole storyline in season 3, can we really be that surprised that shane killed lem to protect the rest of the team, and would maybe even expect vic to understand when the truth comes out?? shane has gotten out of TONS of shit, building up with Tavon and into season 4, antwon, when vic helped him out of a jam time and time again. the actors on this show are great. walton goggins is just perfect for the role. everything about him, when he's in character, makes it so believable. that's my rant for today as i miss the show

The K-9 woman from S3 was an interesting one -- if you have the DVDs, check out the deleted scenes for the last few episodes of the season, she had a few cool scenes that were cut (one being a credits intro with Vic in his apartment) because the actress got cast in a pilot, according to Shawn Ryan, and couldn't film for the last episode or two. It seems like they were going to keep her story going till at least the end of the season, Vic Mackey wanted her to meet his kids and stuff. Too bad they had to drop that one in the middle of its arc.

I know they half to cut stuff so the episodes are the right amount of time, but I think theyve cut some good stuff. One being Laurens stuff and the story of Taylor and Danny

It is hard to believe that there can be an original Strike Team member, like Ronnie, and still have him underdeveloped.

I am fine with what he adds now, but with Vic doing his own investigation on Lem's death, I see Ronnie playing a big part in that, perhaps he may be the one who finds out. Other characters I miss are Diegre, Tio, VanBro, Kern too, but none of these cats will be back.]

Van Bro could come back, since he's the only one of them not dead.
If he did come back for an episode that would come close to completing my wishlist for the returns of "old school" Shield characters.
I was thrilled when Kern returned, as Season 5 already had a lot of ties to the early seasons (the money train, Terry etc), which I think is a sign of good writing in a TV show, and Kern coming back was like the icing on the cake, especially since the writers seemed to forget about him throughout the entire of S4.

Tavon of course, though I think they did a good job for the short amount of episodes he was on the show I would like to see more (hence the screen name)
The Decoy Squad especially Walon he was funny and Trish I thought she and Vic were going to hook up for awhile
The K-9 woman, someone said she got picked up for a pilot show, well it obviously was not made into a series so bring her back
I would also like Tomas to come back if only to stir the shit pot...
